We have a new supt and it's Tony Watlington. He was the best of the candidates and I'm more hopeful than I expected to be. But the hiring process raised many lessons, abt public engagement & abt our failure to cultivate internal leadership. @PHLschoolboard must do better #PHLed

Teachers don't *want* to be virtual. But this gives us the worst of both worlds: schools that are in-person will be understaffed, spreading omicron, and with many students staying home without learning; schools that are virtual didn't have time to prepare for the switch. #PHLed

(And by the way, if a reporter were to call me up and ask me about these tweets, there are folks in the District who are currently trying to pass policies to punish me if I don't get their permission first.)

When folks say that there is money in the District that could fix building conditions and hire more staff, this is what we mean. So much money is wasted. And so much of that waste happens because #PHLed leadership literally never asks what we actually need and don't need.
