The weakest comments in my social media are "You voted for this." That is SUCH a weak, pathetic comment. Yes. I did. Yes, I worked this guy's campaign. I OWN it. But have you NEVER made a mistake? Never broken up with someone because you realized you were dating the wrong person? Never quit a job that wasn't right for you? Never bought something and had to return it because it didn't work? Sit down.

@ashleyschendel Not everyone has a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen in their basement? Plenty of people help their kids with some $ while giving them the freedom to have actual privacy, build independence. Millions of ways to be a great parent, including helping them spread their wings.

We have a two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen in our basement, and I’ve already told my daughter she can live there as long as she wants or needs to. If she goes to college, we’re not charging her rent. If she somehow chooses not to, we’d charge something low just so adulthood still feels real. I don’t think making your kid struggle unnecessarily is some higher form of parenting. If you have the ability to give them a softer landing while they build a life, why wouldn’t you?

Why are landlords so hated? They provide housing, take on debt, and handle repairs. Then they get treated like villains for charging rent. Try having a place to live without any landlords.

@DarrigoMelanie Wait until those second homes are sold and the proceeds used to buy a second home elsewhere. Socialism has an insatiable appetite for those at the top, and as those at the top flee the new people at the top look more and more like you until it is you!

I once saw Adam Driver live on Broadway in Burn This. He had this raw, electric charisma that was apparent even from the nosebleed seats. During one scene that begins with Driver’s character offstage, there was a knock on the door. I will never forget how the entire audience inhaled audibly with the sheer anticipation of seeing Adam Driver again. It turned out to be a different character at the door, at which point the entire audience audibly exhaled in what I can only describe as sheepish disappointment. This charisma is why Lena Dunham cast Driver in Girls. So it’s kind of awful that she is now trying to recast herself as the victim of the very thing she wanted from him.
