I can't believe I finally have a copy! @AnnaTeachesMLLs hand delivered these books from the U.S. for @TeachELLs and me. It was so great to meet you, Anna!

You know your school has done a good job with promoting multilingualism and translanguaging when a student seamlessly and instinctually takes notes in two languages without being reminded or prompted to do so (and also isn't an "EAL student"). 💜

A4. There is a correlation between student- teacher & learning-teaching. Student's growth is usually linked to teacher's growth, when we get out of our comfort zone to learn new skills, new apps, try new strategies to ensure we are targeting our teaching goals but always keeping the students in the center of everything, helping them achieve their learning goals taking into consideration their needs/wants, strengths and areas of improvement. #PubPDAsia

I read @theumamenon's My Mother's Tongues with Grade 5 classes at @ssischool this week. Our students really connected with the main character's language journey. We discussed translanguaging, multilingualism, and the importance of home language.

The "surprise and delight" of the book was the last page where so many languages were represented. (All six classes erupted when they saw it!) The last class added some languages they knew that weren't in the book.

Translanguaging in action! In preparation for our Harkness discussion on Fast Fashion and Sustainability, students were asked to contribute an article to our Padlet either in their home language or from their home country. They wrote a short summary in English.

What a beautiful way to close the last department meeting at ELEA World Languages @NISTSchool this school year! Listening to my colleagues sharing about their successes to celebrate, I realized that every success in our professional growth is closely tied to our teamwork.

Love this post about building trust and rapport with your co-teacher when providing in-class support for students. From my experience, it is spot on! I would add is that doing these things regularly can lead to meaningful co-teaching. eltplanning.com/2024/05/04/in-…
