20yrs ago today I started my time in @HumbleISD on my very first day of kindergarten at @HumbleISD_SFE Next week, I start year 4 as an educator in the district that I grew up in! Here’s to another year of pouring into kids the same way Humble ISD poured into me for 13 years!❤️

Year 3 of being the unofficial photographer for my favorite dance team and I couldn’t be more proud of these girls (and thankful that they make photographing them so dang easy cause they’re so dang talented!)

Yesterday in PLC we practiced new review strategies that we learned from Lead4Ward. We are ready to ROCK our STAAR review!

We are exploring new sources and making predictions before learning! Students were given images and sources about the Industrial Revolution and were tasked with inferring progress and suffering each advance in technology may have caused. Love hearing these deep conversations!

Today 8th grade utilized Scribe & Messenger to teach each other about the major events of Washington’s presidency. Tomorrow we will practice categorizing these events as we analyze the precedents set by our first president #DoingSocialStudiesDaily

Successful PLC this morning as our social studies department broke down assessment questions and lessons to prioritize alignment and rigor every day!

Our 6th grade team launched our new unit today over Human-Environment Interaction as a case study over Hurricane Katrina and examine how humans and the environment shape each other. Students explored images and maps to launch their thinking into this new unit #DoingSocialStudies

It’s been a busy week in US History as we used a grab bag to discover and analyze the characteristics of each colonial region and then took part in a simulation to understand why colonies developed their own self governments- DOING history every day!
