Both the math and reading graphs give educators much to think about. There probably isn't any one reason scores have declined overtime, but it's worth a look at education trends over the last decade or so to see what's worth keeping and what's worth scrapping expeditiously.

I feel like nobody knows this but American math performance at the very top end has actually gotten better even while everyone else has gotten worse. the74million.org/article/how-12…

Amazing how people keep misreading Coach Saban. He never said players shouldn’t get paid — he actually supports it. His point was that college football needs structure: revenue sharing, real NIL deals, and clear rules. Right now it’s chaos with collectives, nonstop transfers, and eligibility loopholes. Coach Saban won 7 national titles and is happily retired. He’s speaking up to help the game, not hurt it. He knows the importance of education for players and their future. When the smoke clears. FOOTBALL AND NFL are Dreams EDUCATION AND Degrees is reality.
CBS News@CBSNews

College football's most decorated head coach Nick Saban spoke at the White House on Friday at a college sports roundtable hosted by President Trump. Saban called on lawmakers to fix issues he has seen at the collegiate level, where Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals have turned the focus away from education. "How much does anybody talk about getting an education anymore? Nobody talks about it at all, which is the most important thing any of these student athletes can do in terms of enhancing their future."

Can we normalize returning summaries to the backs of the books again instead of reviews and praises? I just want to know what the book is about.

The more I teach using explicit "SOL" techniques, the more absurd the idea that explicit teaching stifles critical thinking. Explicit teaching elevates the whole class.

Remember when Google dropped this Black History Month commercial in 2020? That’s what honoring Black history looks like, telling the truth loudly, not sanitizing it when it makes people uncomfortable. Happy Black History Month.

@CarrieTrapnatti @eduleadership While 8th graders are capable of reading a paragraph, directions should be given in manageable chunks. In my state they are required to write an essay in response to reading. The task is doable. Provided they are given clear expectations for writing along with a graphic organizer

@CarrieTrapnatti @eduleadership I wouldn't have created the assignment. As I stated above, Ai is a tool. It's providing ideas for new teachers or teachers new to the content. I would coach a teacher to use Ai as a starting point and flesh out the ideas.

@RogersHistory Kiddos may not understand why they should care. It's not like society values public education right now. Culture has a huge impact on attitudes about learning.

A fantastic teacher said to me yesterday ‘the biggest problem in schools today is that too many children don’t care, it’s a growing number, so much effort to get them to do anything (in general terms)’. Pupils are provided an unprecedented standard of teaching and learning, more support and opt out opportunities than ever before. The passivity is a huge problem and this isn’t about teachers and schools IMO.

@elswraith Mike always saw her as a person, not a weapon. Sacrifice is the greatest act of love, so I understand the ending even if it made me sob!

he was the only one who consistently made sure that el didn’t put her life on the line to keep everyone else safe. he tried to plan and promise a future for her because he knew that’s all she ever wanted. they deserved a happy ending.
