Incredibly talented artist Justine Proulx completed a mural inside The Meeting Place this week! The mural includes ideas of what students wanted to see in it. Thankful for my colleague Michelle who has done an outstanding job taking the lead on the space while I’m on mat leave :)

On January 1st at 10:52am we welcomed Leo William Wolfe into the world! We are so in love with our little boy ♥️

Held our first Indigenous family and friends night at FRC tonight! Thanks to all who came, it was so nice sharing a meal together!

Thrilled to have @DaveAlexRoberts at FRC this afternoon. While the whole talk was outstanding, what stuck with me most was a conversation he had at the end with a student saying, “You don’t need to be loud to have a voice.”

This afternoon the incredibly talented Fredrick Spence came in and hosted a Soapstone Carving workshop with a group of students in The Meeting Place. Students were so thankful and created the most beautiful carvings!

Beyond grateful for artist Jackie Traverse who hosted a full day workshop with a group of students today. Look at the stunning mural that showcases tiles painted by both students and Jackie! 😍

Tim Barron hosted a dreamcatcher workshop as part of FRC’s Mental Wellness Morning today. The Mental Wellness committee did an outstanding job (as usual) organizing the day! 👏🏻

Today Elder Winston joined Indigenous Circle! We ate bannock pizza from Feast, drummed and sang together as a group. Lots of laughs, smiles and joy. Today was a great lunch hour ♥️

The drum bags for The Meeting Place give the room so much life! The drum bags we ordered from The Silver Moccasin and our drums are from Tribal Spirit Music. Both companies are Indigenous owned and were truly outstanding to work with.

Each Wednesday Indigenous Circle shares a meal from Feast Cafe. Today we had chilli and bannock. As always, students said it was delicious! We are grateful for the grant that has allowed us to build a community with one another in this way.

Elder Alison Cox spent the day in The Meeting Place today with various classes and lunch hour clubs. We are grateful to have this space to host such beautiful days of learning and connecting.

A tiny sample of some projects students have completed recently. Collaborative jigsaws with clearly defined roles, some art pieces and some 3D models. I love seeing students approach their learning so uniquely from one another!

Today Four Sacred Hearts joined Indigenous Circle. Grateful for staff and students to have the opportunity to hear their stories. This is the gift we presented them with!

Today a couple students made bannock for The Meeting Place at lunch and we all watched a movie together. Clearly I forgot to take a before picture, but safe to say it was delicious based on how quickly it got eaten up! #Community
