@DadaMorero@DadaMorero , please come back to Bloubosrand/Kya Sands or Pipeline Informal settlement to see the mess we are leaving under. It gets worse each day.
Work at Small Street is still underway and remains a top priority for city officials. We’re not about to back down anytime soon.
Step by step, precinct by precinct, we’ll take back every street. 📹 video captured earlier during an overnight visit to Small Street with MMC Zungu.
@Lesufi Margaret Tleane from your office told us that once she sends us an email address of the person to assist us in an urgent matter she's done her work, whether that official helps us or not. It's no longer your office's problem once the handover is done. Is this how you work?
@DadaMorero We were referred by Margaret Tleane from the office of the premier to Makhosazana Mtshali from COJ to attend to our urgent matter that was brought to both your Mayor's office and theirs. a month later she has not responded to our emails. We require your intervention.
@msjnhlane@EducationGP1 I spoke to soon, just received a rejection to my appeal and the claim is that all the kids placed had a closer address which is a lie as I know of people accepted at Fourways high but stay further away compared to my address
@msjnhlane@EducationGP1 Really, they can decline an objection? I also objected but it said successful and it's another long wait. That time both my home and work address are within the feeder zone.
♦️ TIP-OFF ♦️
Please let us know which areas need bylaw enforcement and crime prevention. Send the information and exact location to the tip-off line so we can respond quickly.
We urgently request that the Mayor’s Office facilitates a sustainable, coordinated, and decisive response to resolve this matter. Your continued support in safeguarding the integrity and health of our communities is highly appreciated.
We sincerely thank the Mayor’s Office, the Premier’s Office, the provincial law enforcement agencies and the JMPD operation conducted on 13 October 2025. The intervention was timely and necessary to curb ongoing illegal land occupations in the area.
@DadaMorero Good Morning,
We wrote the below email to your office which was a follow up email and both emails have not been responded to.
His Worship, Executive Mayor Dada Morero
City of Johannesburg
Urgent: Request for Sustainable Intervention Following JMPD Operation
To ensure the Mayor has a clear understanding of the situation on the ground, we respectfully request that a team be sent to conduct a walkabout of the area with us, and, if possible, that the Mayor also be present to see the situation first-hand.
There are serious issues of illegal occupation by foreigners and illegal dumping, which continue to pose significant negative impacts and health hazards. We, the community, hoped these issues would be addressed simultaneously when the informal settlement is lawfully evacuated.
We remain hopeful that the City is actively working to secure the necessary eviction order to lawfully remove the entire informal settlement and restore the land. The situation remains critical, with over 3,000 structures—many of them brick-and-mortar—still standing.
However, it appears that progress may be stalling, as the impression from your office is that the 13 October operation was intended as the final action, whereas it was meant as a temporary measure pending a more permanent solution.
For clarity, the operation targeted the prevention of further land grabs and the demolition of unfinished or unoccupied structures, not the removal of already built and occupied homes. During this intervention, only one brick-and-mortar structure and a few shacks were demolished.
♦️ HAPPENING NOW ♦️
The Public Safety Department, together with other stakeholders, is conducting a multidisciplinary operation to demolish unsafe buildings in Region E, Kya Sands. This initiative is focused on protecting residents and restoring order in the community.

@DadaMorero Instead we were told by Director Fontein that @JoburgMPD no longer demolish unfinished structures, so for the past two days you had to deploy a number of officers for something that could have been avoided if @JoburgMPD bothered to respond to our calls in the early stages.
Illegal structures, particularly illegal electricity connections & land invasions, are a serious issue in Kya Sands. We are addressing them immediately. We are currently demolishing these structures. The days of unregulated actions are over. #HighImpactServiceDelivery
@DadaMorero What was demolished between yesterday and Sunday is only a small portion of what was built in the last month and you wouldn't have had to have a huge operation if @JoburgMPD and @MTshwaku@mlungisi_baso responded to our call when the structures were going up.
@DadaMorero A huge thank you for attending to our call but this is not even 0.00001% of our problems as residents of Bloubosrand and Kyasands. We sent an email to your office last week which is more detailed and no response or acknowledge received so far.
People are continuing to illegally build on the land that belongs to Gauteng government and our all calls for help are not heard. We've been reporting from 2020 and this is today, they occupying the small piece of land left. @JoburgMPD said they are sending a team and dololo
