MSU President Mark E. Keenum addressed new members of the Gamma of Mississippi Chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa Society this evening during the 2026 induction ceremony. Selected for their accomplishments in the arts and sciences, the inductees joined the nation’s most prestigious academic honor society as outstanding achievers in the top 10% of their graduating class.

MSU is introducing a new university resource called Major Maps, a year-by-year roadmap containing information about each undergraduate major! Keenum welcomed friends, fans, and honorees to campus for the 2026 Ron Polk Ring of Honor inductions for former Diamond Dawg baseball players Nat (Buck) Showalter, Chris Stratton, and the late Alex Grammas. The induction is one of the highlights in the life of the university each year.

MSU has launched a new minor this semester in tourism and destination development! Housed in MSU’s College of Integrative Studies, the minor offers a broad understanding of visitor experience design, destination operations and tourism development as they enter Mississippi’s fourth-largest industry.

One MSU alum manages Artemis II mission as a second supports its readiness ⬇️ Matthew Ramsey is celebrating the success of Wednesday’s launch of NASA’s Artemis II mission—the first crewed mission since 1972—as its mission manager. Former Diamond Dawg baseball pitcher and MSU alumnus Matthew Ramsey is the NASA mission manager for Artemis II, NASA’s first crewed moon mission under Artemis. “For me, it’s all about the crew and ensuring their safety as they venture to the Moon and come home,” said Ramsey, a Hernando native. Ramsey pitched for the MSU baseball team before earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from Mississippi’s leading research university.

MSU Mark E. Keenum recently test drove the university’s EcoCAR, highlighting MSU’s leadership in advanced vehicle innovation. As part of the EcoCAR EV Challenge, MSU students are reengineering a Cadillac LYRIQ to advance electric vehicle technology, automation and mobility through hands-on, real-world experience.
