Boyuan Zhang, an emerging 2026 wing, is set to visit Cal next week for the home stand against Duke and UNC. Illinois and Minnesota are the two other schools battling for Zhang's services. Zhang was born in China before coming to the USA and electing to play at Veritas Academy

#Illini basketball recruit Boyuan Zhang talks to me in a 1-on-1 interview. "Have a lot of Chinese people here. Very friendly, very cool here," he told me. The 3-star from China shot 43% from three-point land. It's projected he will continue to move up rankings. He is 6-foot-8-inches, and is a class of 2026 recruit. He said Illinois' offensive production and being a top-20 program each year makes them attractive. He also has offers from Cal and USC, among others.
