A South African lady called Xingashe Asanda wrote this on her Facebook page Here’s an interesting fact: I am in Korea on a work visa (Scarce skill worker and i can never be a waiter or teach any other subject except English), and my visa is valid for one year. Every year, I have to prove to Korean immigration that I am still medically fit, that I haven’t committed any crimes during that year, and that I am still employed in order for them to renew my visa. They will only renew my visa if I can prove that I am of good use to their country. Furthermore, if during that year I decide to move from my apartment to a new one for any reason, I have 14 days to go back to immigration and inform them that I have changed my address. If I am even a day late and go on day 16, I will have to pay a fine, which can cost anything from R2,000 to R13,000. As a South African, I am also not allowed to participate in any protests happening in the country. If there is a crowd of Korean people protesting for whatever reason, I, as Phindile, cannot be found in that crowd because I could be deported. Before I got my Korean ID, I wasn’t even able to own a korean cellphone number or even order anything online. I am therefore in this country legally, and I make sure that I abide by their laws because I know that if I don’t, I will be sent back home with no negotiations. Does this mean Korea is xenophobic? No. This is a country making sure that its citizens and the country itself are protected. A country making sure that guests know their place! Why are South Africans being made to feel bad for wanting the same thing?

For those CONFUSED… These FARMS were NEVER meant to be taken, it was a mistake that’s being rectified… They were not acquired through COLONISATION, they were PRIVATE INVESTMENTS made after INDEPENDENCE… We know that some will run with the false narratives that land reform is being REVERSED, that’s not true…

35 out of 56 Commonwealth countries do not directly elect their head of government. That’s 63%.  We may not be in the Commonwealth, but most of its members are our development peers—so on democratic governance, that’s a useful benchmark. Worth asking: how do we compare? #CAB3

We have heard the VP talk in parables and yet never defended the late Blessed Geza, now he is talking again and it remains talk unless he comes out and condemns CAB3. UNTIL then Rt Gen Chiwenga is part of the problem, part of the mess we are in and not the solution.

Public Consultations are APOLITICAL… In fact, no one is allowed to wear political regalia during the public consultations… If you couldn’t speak, you can send an email or go submit a written statement to parliament… You will not delegitimise the process Bambo, it’s bigger than your narrow interests…. No one is called “opposition” during public consultations, it’s for Zimbabweans as individuals not some kangaroo groupings… CAB3 is being implemented, and whether u supported it or not, it will be the law of the land applicable to everyone. The sooner you disabuse yourselves of this delusion of grandeur, the better
Rutendo Matinyarare@matinyarare

@KMutisi Illegitimate to who? Who were you having the fake consultations, blocking opposition from speaking to try and convince that the process is legitimate and in favour of ZANU PF’s position?

Bambo, if you are too slow to understand simple things just stay out of complicated debates…. The constitution of Zimbabwe as written even defines a full term as starting from 3 years… so adding 2 years can’t be regarded as adding a Term, that should be VERY EASY to understand unless you have no capacity to understand anything. If you believe in your flawed argument, go test it in a court of law and see if you will succeed… Zimbabweans understand the difference, that’s why they attended the Public Hearings in HUGE NUMBERS & endorsed the Beautiful Bill… You & others who are stuck in their narrow definitions will soon catch up… We are patient with slow people…
Rutendo Matinyarare@matinyarare

How can you say extending length of five year term that is codified in our constitution and electoral act is not a change to term limit? What is a term limit in the first place? It’s a limit to length of time and number of terms that one can serve, and you said that such an amendment requires a referendum. What changed now?

Just a few weeks ago, Mr. @BitiTendai, a comrade and human rights lawyer in Zimbabwe, was speaking out strongly condemning our brutal persecution by the Museveni regime following the sham Jan. 2026 election. Unfortunately, as I type this, he has joined the long list of comrades in Africa unfairly detained by their governments for seeking freedom. Biti was arrested alongside other freedom fighters in Zimbabwe for resisting attempts to extend the presidential term there to seven years and restrict the election of the President to members of Parliament only. It is disturbing to see this script, which Ugandans are already familiar with, being deployed in Zimbabwe as well. Biti's arrest is a cowardly attack on all citizens of Zimbabwe by a regime that cannot sustain open debate about their future without resorting to brute force. I call for his immediate, unconditional release together with the colleagues detained with him. The people of Zimbabwe deserve freedom, and leaders chosen by them. The struggle continues!

#Zimbabwe My Dear Brother🙏🏿 To label our President, @edmnangagwa, as "mediocre" is not only deeply disrespectful but also a gross misrepresentation of reality. Despite facing relentless #sanctions, the devastating impact of Cyclone Idai, and the global disruptions of the COVID-19 pandemic, Zimbabwe's economy has continued to demonstrate resilience and commendable growth. I urge you my brother, Rutendo Matinyarare to reflect on the gravity of such words and offer a sincere apology to our Head of State. Yesterday was a sad night for me💔

WATCH | ZANU PF supporters attacked fellow party member Rutendo after he spoke out against Constitutional Amendment Bill No. 3, which seeks to extend President Mnangagwa’s term beyond 2030. He claimed that President Mnangagwa is trying to force himself on Zimbabweans when there are other leaders.

WHAT IS AN ELECTION CYCLE? An election cycle, sometimes called an "electoral cycle," is a well-established concept in electoral practice, which is all too familiar to students of electoral politics and electoral law. All countries, be they constitutional democracies, parliamentary systems or absolute monarchies have election cycles of one sort or another. At its core, the concept of election cycle defines the disciplined continuum: a structured and demarcated period emblematic of the preparation, conduct and aftermath of elections; often viewed as a continuous process rather than isolated events. Typically, an election cycle begins the day after the previous general election for a given office and runs through the date of the next general election for that same office—whose end is marked by the assumption of office by the elected officer. As such, an election cycle forges an unbroken chain of accountability that no government can escape. In Zimbabwe, the election cycle is the five-year period which expresses the Constitution’s harmonised election triad of “term or length of Office of President” (section 95); “Duration or life Parliament” (section 143); and the “Timing of Elections” (section 158); as read with section 38 of the Electoral Act on “General, presidential and local authority elections”. This triad defies the country’s election cycle, measures leadership, tests legitimacy and renews the social contract. Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment No. 3) Bill, 2026 seeks, inter alia, to lengthen the county's election cycle from five to seven years. It's a Sabbath initiative!

𝗭𝗘𝗥𝗢 𝗥𝗘𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗨𝗠 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗔𝗟 𝗔𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗗𝗠𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗞𝗦 𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗢𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗦𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗗 𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗨𝗕𝗟𝗜𝗖’𝗦 𝗚𝗢𝗢𝗗 𝗪𝗢𝗥𝗞. As much as I understand and support the need to extend the election cycle to seven years, to break the perpetual electioneering and focus on nation-building, I believe that a constitutional amendment without a referendum comes with too many risks. These risks include raising divisions inside ZANU PF, resurrecting an opposition that was dead, raising chances of protests and conflict between the opposition and government, which raises the chance of destroying the current goodwill from the West and the threats of new sanctions. More critically, the older our President gets, the more vulnerable his leadership becomes to internal challenges and coups, as we saw with Mugabe. In my books, this constitutional amendment is too risky and threatens to undo the legacy being built by the Second Republic. So what are the options? Take the 2030 constitutional amendment to a referendum, to get buy-in and acceptance from the masses. Or ZANU PF must focus on presenting a successor with a strong pro-economic strategy to win the hearts and minds of the youth and urban voters, to beat Chamisa in 2028.

There’s nothing wrong with youths fighting for their party’s regalia. This only happens when a party is so popular that everyone wants to be associated with it. The number of people subscribing to ZANU–PF is increasing every day, and regalia is becoming scarce. Some are even spending their own money to purchase it. It has now become embarrassing not to have ZANU–PF regalia at all. President E.D. Mnangagwa is regarded as the most popular president, and people are doing everything they can to obtain their regalia. Bring opposition regalia, no one will take it. Bring ZANU–PF regalia, people will fight for it.
