Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself. In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior. On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.

Today marks 111 years since the Ottoman Empire began the Armenian Genocide, systematically killing an estimated 1.5 million Armenians through massacres and death marches. This legacy of denial and erasure continued in 2023, when Azerbaijan imposed a nine-month blockade on Artsakh, followed by a military assault that ethnically cleansed over 120,000 indigenous Armenians from their homes. Villages were emptied, churches desecrated, and families fled with nothing. Azerbaijan still holds 19 Armenian hostages, subjecting them to sham trials, torture, and unlawful detention. Demand your government recognize the 1915 Genocide, condemn the Artsakh ethnic cleansing, and press for the immediate release of all Armenian hostages. Silence enables repetition. #ArmenianGenocide #FreeArmenianHostages #NeverForget
