7 Armenian hostages incarcerated in Baku are demanding to be immediately released. The fact that they are working together show the importance, the gravity of the case. It's a collective request. It's not just one single individual. the gravity increases dramatically the possibility that the Working Group pay a lot of attention to their claim.

On this day in 1915, the genocide of over one million Armenians in the former Ottoman Empire began with the murder of Armenian intellectuals and community leaders. This Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, I once again stand in solidarity with Armenian communities around the world and call upon our leaders to call this crime by its proper name.

On the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, California mourns the 1.5 million Armenians systematically massacred in 1915. Armenians bravely forged ahead in the face of this unimaginable tragedy, seeking to build new lives across the world — including in California. California is committed to the safety and well-being of this community and protecting all Californians from hateful acts and violence. This Day of Remembrance, we continue to stand with and celebrate the Armenian people.

Today marks the 111th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. As we honor the 1.5 million Armenians murdered by the Ottoman Empire across modern-day Turkey, Syria, and Armenia, we must refuse to let history repeat itself. In 2020, the military forces of Azerbaijan and Turkey attacked the Armenian population in Nagorno-Karabakh. In 2023, Azerbaijan expelled over 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh, continuing the genocidal campaign that had begun over 100 years prior. On this day of remembrance, we reaffirm the right of the Armenian people — and all people — to freedom, safety, and self-determination.

CoHNA stands in solidarity with Armenian Americans & Canadians as the world commemorates 111 years of the brutal genocide of Armenian Christians under the Ottoman empire. If you are in Canada, make sure to attend a commemoration event (x.com/ancc_cnac/stat…) near you. Last year, CoHNA's Quebec chapter organized a discussion of communities navigating the transgenerational trauma of brutal genocides. Watch this excerpt where @MtlShantk narrates his personal story of discovering what befell his own Armenian family. Watch the full discussion: youtube.com/watch?v=2SopfK…

After Azerbaijan gained control over Artsakh/ Nagorno-Karabakh, it has continued destroying Armenian churches and monuments—jewels of Armenian and Christian cultural heritage. Imagine the loss to humanity if this continues. My article, via @Global_Bar globalbar.se/2024/07/stop-t…

On April 2, 2016, during Azerbaijan’s attack on Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijani soldiers executed elderly Armenian civilians Valera & Razmela Khalapyan in their home, then they cut off their ears. Azerbaijani soldiers also killed Valera’s mother, Marousya, who was 92 y.o.

My children only know this and the historical maps which include Armenia from Artsakh to Cilicia, where their roots extend. They will be educated about their true history and they will learn about their heroes. They often draw Mount Ararat while looking at the real thing.
