@KatieGrace2022 @RobbieBarwick Once you dismantle these capabilities, it's extremely difficult to get them back. All the training, ships, berthing facilities etc all gone. The money often we receive for selling these assets off doesn't reflect the replacement cost.

Not so fast. It's time you & your neoliberal accomplices owned up to stripping Australia of all sovereign capability. YOU sold Australia's national shipping line in 1998; YOU boasted in 2000 we aren't a "shipper" nation. Now we're fully reliant on foreign shippers. Apologise.
John Anderson AC@JohnAndersonAC

"Australia is the most diesel-dependent economy in the world... if the shipping channels are cut to our North, we will be on our knees within days." John spoke to @Channel7 last night about Australia's fuel crisis. See link in comments below.

@PelicanInMotion @TheMaineWonk Because Trump can do what he likes when it comes to Iran, the economy inflation etc as long as he clamps down on illegals and fights "woke."

@TheMaineWonk So strange the "overall" category is significantly higher than the others. that says to me people still love Trump even though they really dislike what he's doing regarding Iran, inflation etc.

@DoubleN97182470 @Osinttechnical The Ottawa Treaty bans signatories from producing and using anti personnel landmines. Moot anyway as the US isn't a signatory.

The U.S. appears to be dropping landmines around Iranian missile cities to catch ballistic missile launch vehicles, with some of the mines falling on nearby towns.

Trevor Ball@Easybakeovensz

Bellingcat identified the mines found overnight in Kafari, Iran as US BLU-91/B anti-tank mines from the Gator Scatterable Mine System. At least two people were reportedly killed. These mines were deployed over a village near a Iranian missile base.

@secretsqrl123 @IAPonomarenko I'm waiting for our politicians in Australia to wake up to this. We have an order for Virginia class subs that will only be delivered if the US can spare them. And the US currently isn't building fast enough to meet their own demand.

I mean, how the hell is this even legal? Was it part of the contract that the seller is entitled to say “screw you and the money you've paid us, we're talking these weapons for ourselves”?

@IAPonomarenko I think it's standard in most procurement contracts with US defence companies. They will only send to you if the US can spare it. Australia has a massive contract for US built submarines that we may never see as they aren't even building enough to meet their own programme

@DschlopesIsBack Funny, because the numbers of guns owned in Australia are now offer 25% higher than they were at the time of the buy back/amnesty. So what's this you're saying about lack of freedom?

Reminder that THIS was the exact moment when Australia stopped being a free country. NEVER, under any circumstances, should you give up your guns to the government.

@DschlopesIsBack There is a reason why Citizen ownership of guns was added in the 2d amendment of the U.S. Constitution. The people of England, Canada and Australia are finding that out now. The hard way.

Just when you thought the GOP couldn’t be a more embarrassing cult, Speaker Mike Johnson presented Donald Trump with the “first-ever America First Award”: “We have created a new award. We are going to do something we’ve never done before. We will honor him with a new award… That’s a beautiful gold statue, appropriate for the new Golden Era in America.”

@Peter_Fitz My understanding, belief is the primary thing that matters for evangelicals. You can act like a complete Sea Hunt, as long as you accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Call me weird, but I think your actions are a measure of your worth, not what deity you choose to accept.

@NickMcKim We should be ambivalent and build refineries. If you truly gave a shit about the environment, processing in 1st world countries is the way forward. With the added benefit of national energy security.

@grantstern Trump endorsements rarely matter. Every time his choice loses he & the media ignore it. Every time it works it’s framed as “he’s still got it” Almost the entire media ecosystem helped create him , justify him, excuse him, empower him…yet, we are expected to believe it’s him?

@stokdog A wind turbine pays back the energy cost to build it in about 18 months. That's all the concrete, steel, composites and fuel used to build it. It then carries on producing energy for another 25 years.

This photo shows 180 tonnes of steel reinforcement used at the base of a wind turbine. To complete it, approximately 800 cubic meters of concrete remain to be added. It will remain in the ground. IT'S NOT GREEN. Hit ♥️ if you think renewables are a scam
