
Thank you for articulating this so well. Its maddening how most of the folk diving into this are complaining about Douglas’ straw-manning and then in the same breath completely missing reality and straw-manning his main argument into “so I’m not allowed to have an opinion”. I think the error Douglas made was that a) he allowed that segment to go on for WAY too long and b) he didn’t push Joe hard enough on what he was actually trying to get across which is the point that you’re making. It’s about brining balance and challenge to views - especially on topics with mortal importance - not simply a straw man on allowing / forbidding them.
