@StupidCatPone I've read some things in Japanese before, and if I haven't read in English, I've found myself saying some things in a way that apparently differs from the localization. For example, I've only ever played Persona 5 in Japanese.

one example of performative behavior i've noticed for years is where when a piece of japanese media has a very widely used localized name in english some fans of it will insist on using the japanese name anyway for some reason. very "place, japan" vibes

The "Japanese" localization cartel basically doesn't exist outside of Video games, Anime, and Manga.
Localization primarily exists for software. It's unusual that anime and manga are localized, but they weaseled their way in, hence this mostly happens with Japanese media.

Gary Newman, creator of Rust and Gary's Mod, just got banned from Facepunch.
The forums that discuss his games booted him because he refused to condemn and disavow his coworkers and friends over anti-immigration sentiment.
Moderators and forum users pressured him to publicaly condemn or distance himself from these views. He refused.
Multiple moderators pounced, banning him in quick succession (a wall of bans pile on). Note that Facepunch forums was started by many of the former mods who worked for him.
Ironic that Gary closed the original forums because of politics, in part. Now politics has come for him.

PayPal has permanently banned this artist the second he tried to open commissions. There is no warning and no explanation, no reason, just an instant lock on the account after he verified his ID. They freeze your money and act like it’s nothing.
This isn’t customer service, so it’s straight-up debanking an independent artist with zero accountability. Artists get treated like criminals for trying to make a living. PayPal needs to be held responsible for this.
PayPal, Stripe, MasterCard, and Visa are pure devil companies and may debank or suspend payments.
XPayments is the alternative that we have been waiting for.

Elon just offered to fund a wrongful death lawsuit against UK police officers who handcuffed the victim of a stabbing.
Henry Novak had been stabbed by Vickrum Digwa with an 8in Sikh martial arts knife.
When officers arrived, Vickrum claimed he had been racially abused, while Henry was lying on his side, telling the police he’d been stabbed and couldn’t breathe.
Officers immediately took Vickrum’s side and told Henry that he was under arrest for suspicion of assault, dismissing claims that he’d been stabbed.
Henry died as a result of his injuries.
