@rouleur If you’re going to race it, the UCI are going to own it. So stop having specific gravel races & return it to its roots which I believe was gravel (or off-asphalt) touring.

UPDATE: Thymen Arensman was taken by ambulance to hospital, accompanied by our team doctor, following a crash on stage 7 of La Vuelta in Oliva. He underwent trauma protocol assessment with CT scans thankfully ruling out cranial, spinal or further major injuries. Thymen has had sutures applied to the injuries he sustained, is stable and remains under observation. Please join us in wishing Thymen a speedy recovery and a swift return to full health.

@daniellloyd1 1999-2005 was a great time to be watching and doing bike racing. It was a period that created millions of new cyclists that have stayed w the sport and continue to ride their bikes. That’s a bigger legacy than the dope.

28 years ago, Luc Leblanc rode up Hautacam over 1 minute faster than Vingegaard today, at the end of a 7 hour, 263km stage. I understand that many of you were stung badly. You believed in a sport that turned out to be a lie, and you don't want to be made fools of again.

@DC_RPT 2/2 In 2010 the IAAF outlawed false starts in sprint events as they were being used to gain advantage by some athletes. If you false started you were DQd. Result? No false starts. Ban speeders after first offence.

@DC_RPT 1/2 27% of fatal road accidents are caused by excessive speeding (RAC Foundation). So, clearly people who drive at excessive speeds need to be stopped from doing so.

18 years ago I photographed Alejandro Valverde winning two stages & overall of the 2004 Vuelta Valenciana - this amazing guy might do it again in the same race in 2022, and it starts today!

@CaleyFretz The UCI allows you to race a semi-controllable bicycle that may kill you. But not allow you to race a perfectly safe bicycle that weighs less than 6.8kg. Needs a rethink.
