@jackvlloyd Fair. And I agree, I am in the “ai is evil” camp because of all the movies I grew up on, but do enjoy the benefits of today. I’m concerned for the future, but happy with the present.

Kentucky’s primary elections are often decided by a very small number of voters. In 2024, only about 13% of registered voters cast a ballot in the primary. That means a handful of votes can decide who represents us and the future of Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District. If you want change, you cannot sit this one out. Talk to your family. Call your friends. Remind your neighbors. Encourage everyone you know to make a plan and get to the polls. Early voting in Kentucky begins May 14, and Election Day is May 19. A change must come to Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District, and I need your vote. Let’s make our voices heard and show that Kentucky is ready for new leadership.

JetBlue wanted to buy Spirit in 2022, but the U.S. Department of Justice, along with several states, sued to block it. Their main argument was that Spirit is one of the few low-cost airlines, and getting rid of it as an independent competitor would likely push ticket prices up. Federal judgeYoung agreed with that argument and ruled against the merger, saying it would hurt competition in the airline market. No merger. I learned yesterday that what the DOJ used to challenge and block the merger comes mainly from federal antitrust law, the Clayton Antitrust Act of 1914. That law specifically lets the government stop mergers that would “substantially lessen competition” or create a monopoly before they fully happen. If two companies want to merge, they should be free to do so, and the market should sort out whether that’s good or bad. Government overreach is always bad. Spirit collapsed and now there's no competition- so it was all pointless.

@CptAncapistan @iLavenderLush Many times, the reason that places throw the excess food away is because of state health code laws and not being allowed to donate it to shelters/churches. When I worked in catering, we dealt with that and we had to try to figure out a way to give the leftover food away for free.

@iLavenderLush I’ve been seeing this argument for “ACKSHUALLY capitalism is more wasteful than communism” for years, and it’s always just doughnuts.

This is literally what capitalism does, they would rather throw the food away and lock the dumpster and call the police on dumpster divers then give away the food for cheaper or for free! This is the future that capitalists want.

After private equity took over Krispy Kreme, a dozen donuts hit $22. Unsold ones go straight in the trash instead of being sold cheaper.

Spiking fuel prices from Trump’s war was the nail in the coffin for twice-bankrupted Spirit airline. FWIW, JetBlue merger failed because a judge, appointed by Ronald Reagan, said the deal was illegal. Republicans are desperate to shift blame from higher costs hitting families.
