When I went to Mexico I did not go to Gringo Mexico and my plan, were I get to stopped by Cartel guys, was to tell them that because I spoke Spanish & Chinese, that I could help them buy tons of precursor chemicals in exchange for my life.

Dean Martin on the gap between his image and who he really was:
Dean Martin built one of the most iconic public personas in entertainment history. The effortlessly cool, drink-in-hand crooner who never seemed to take anything too seriously. But in this interview, he pulls back the curtain.
Asked whether "wine, women, and song" is an accurate description, Dean laughs it off:
"Women and song. Wine. I'm not too crazy about wine… I love to sing and I love women. I'm really not a booger. Oh, I drink, but I'm not a — a booze. I'm not an alcoholic or anything like that."
He explains that the drinking image was partly something audiences projected onto him, and partly something he leaned into because it worked:
"People like to see that you're a regular guy and you drink and even when I used to play in the tournaments with all the big players… 'Hey Dean, you want a drink? You know, here's a beer.' And so was — that's the way they wanted me and I — I couldn't change if I wanted to."
When the interviewer pushes on his reputation for being lazy, Dean dismantles it with simple logic:
"They want to think I'm lazy, but they know I work. I mean, could I be where I am today? If I were lazy and if I were a boozer, I mean, no one would put up millions and millions of dollars to give me a TV show."
But the most revealing moment comes when he's asked about what actually matters to him. His answer is immediate:
"My family is always first. I — I don't have fun all the time. I work. The only reason I work is to provide for my family. And when I work, it's — it's serious work. And the serious work that I do, I try to have a little fun with it. But I must work. I love the work."
That last line is the real Dean Martin philosophy. Take your work seriously, but never let the audience see you sweat. Make it look like fun even when it isn't.
And when asked if he has any regrets looking back on his life, his answer is quintessentially Dean:
"I wouldn't change one thing. Not one thing."

99% of the time, people don't reach out when mad, so bad blood heats up. Have to stay ahead of this stuff if you're operating on Charlie's level, or want to. Trump of course is famous for working the phones. You can say this is obvious stuff, but who else does this? No one.

Something Charlie Kirk did. He would check in sua sponte. He'd send something you'd find interesting, which people find flattering. Almost no one does this even though it's Benjamin Franklin 101. Also it heads off bad blood. Sometimes people are mad at you and you don't know it.

Well, that’s what I was told when I went to the Cardiologist recently. Had a few chest pains that I ignored over the year. I’m healthy, workout, etc. Doc still scolded me. He said don’t play games with ANY symptoms post 35.
