The last photo of Muhammad Ali, 2016 Born Cassius Clay, Ali is considered the most important athlete of the 20th century by many professionals and critics. Known as "The Greatest," Ali would use boxing as his platform to advocate for civil rights and humanitarian issues and as a form of self-expression. Despite being considered the best boxer of all time, Ali dealt with racism and discrimination his entire life. Here is a story about Ali that shows his dedication to his beliefs: Ali had won a gold medal at the 1960 Olympics boxing tournament at just 18 years old. He returned to his hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, where he was referred to with slurs by local newspapers. Proud of his accomplishments, Ali went out one night to celebrate his victory while wearing his gold medal. Upon entering a diner, Ali was refused service. Enraged that the waitress would only recognize him for the color of his skin and not his character, Ali threw his medal into the Ohio River off a bridge. He did this as he felt that no matter what he achieved, he would never be judged for his character but for his physical features. Ali had an incredible career, with 56 wins (37 knockouts) and 5 losses. Towards the end of his career, Ali showed signs of Parkinson's disease, which caused him to retire. Ali was known for his unique boxing style, which consisted of movements such as the "Ali shuffle," which gave the impression that he was dancing. He was not credited as a heavy hitter, but he was known for his dodging and agile abilities, which allowed him to dodge attacks to tire out his opponents, allowing Ali to be more aggressive. Ali would go on to inspire millions of people around the world with his poetic commentary, wishful thinking, and generous attitude. Photographer: Zenon Texeira

🗣️ Rooney: “It's crazy, but if you talk to 12-year-olds about Cristiano Ronaldo, they'll immediately say, 'Yes, he was a brilliant Manchester United player'. But if you say 'Ji-Sung Park ", they may not know who he is. Yet all of us who have played with Park know that he was almost as important to our success. Players like me, Ronaldo, and Tévez made headlines but Fletcher and Park were as important as us, even more. I remember Ferguson's chat before the game against AC Milan. He literally told Park: "Your job today is not to touch the ball, it's not about making passes, your job is Pirlo. That's it: Pirlo!". At the time, Andrea Pirlo was averaging 110 passes per game, something crazy like that, and of those, about 60-70 were forward passes, passes that could hurt you. He had this trick: when the ball came to him from the side, he played it immediately above the head of your central defender, so that Shevchenko or Kaka leave. Pirlo was the best I've seen on that pass. So Fergie said to Park: "He can't have the right to that pass. You can't be a meter or a second behind. And I think Pirlo barely made 40 passes in that game, and 95% were behind because Park had fully complied with what Ferguson had asked for. What Park was able to do that night was so impressive." Even Pirlo confirmed in his autobiography that he was impressed by Park: "In Milan, Ferguson put Park Ji-Sung on me. He wouldn't let go. He was throwing himself at me. They programmed him to stop me. His sacrifice was almost touching. Even though he was a recognized player, he agreed to be used as a watchdog".

Great mentors want their mentees to surpass them. Poor mentors want their mentees to stay under their thumb. They might even give you opportunities to keep that hold on you. Be wary of how your mentors speak about you, about themselves, and about the world in general.

When I was in my 20's I worked out to look good. In my 40's I still do that but I'm way more motivated by increasing my energy levels, decreasing stress, gaining muscle & becoming the healthiest version of myself.

Absolutely the case and early in my career I took them all on, but within the last 12 months that's changed What I check for: - how they communicate - does psych feel welcomed or tolerated - harmony levels - what are the unspoken elements of the work - core value alignment
aaronwalshnz@aaronwalshnz

Advice for those looking to take up a role. Don't choose opportunity over alignment. No matter how fantastic the potential role is, you will only get the impact you envisage if you are aligned with the leadership ethos. I learned this early in my work, and it has guided me well.

I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters. I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years. We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. I took incredible pride everytime I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers. It’s been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together. Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings. Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me. We’ve seen it all. 🤘🏼❤️
