If you're now designing or redesigning a website, this will help you a lot.
I recently curated the best hero sections, footers, social proof and other website parts because I got tired of having 15+ tabs open (even with Mobbin).

@smarty_vic Sometimes rejections can be mindset shift

Last year wasn’t really cool for me but I still had a crazy run, achieved something.
I showed interest in working for a company that I love so much, I’ve been following up their progress and I was actually really interested in working for them.
I love how much they embrace growth, I love how much they ship almost everytime, that is the kind of company I’ll love to work for. That’s a company that pushes you beyond your limits.
Which company am I talking about ? It’s definitely @KASTxyz , I actually made progress pitching myself to them, spoke with the founder, head of design and also a lot of people in the team, really meant a whole lot to me. Even though I wasn’t hired, I had a mindset shift, I had a stronger thirst to do more in my field, I don’t think I can ever forget about KAST completely 😂, I stalk them till date. That’s how much I love the project 😂.
Was really a great experience fr. There is a lesson in every occurrence, you didn’t get the gig doesn’t mean that you aren’t good at what you do, sometimes, it’s just for you to think in another perspective, other times, it’s a mindset shift and that was exactly what KAST did to me.
Have you pitched your service to a company buh didn’t get hired and it caused a positive mindset shift for you? I’ll love to hear your experience.

Should you do a design test before getting the actual gig?
Here is my take:
I’ll explain this with an experience I had recently, I reached out to this founder, he was building a project, he told me about it and I actually liked the idea, he didn’t give me full details, he just told me the name of the project and I like to do something whenever I’m chatting with a new client, I like to gain their trust even before I get the gig, I want them to feel safe talking to me about their project, that trust factor is very important.
How did I gain the trust of this particular client? Remember, everything he told me about his project was just the name but from the name, I could detect what the project is all about, I researched, got a copy for the page, got navigations, primary and secondary buttons, I worked on the design and sent it to him, he was shocked to see it and he loved it.
Buh something happened when it was finally time for me to close the actual gig, he sent me the full details for the first page and I told him that for me to get started, he has to pay 50% deposit, apparently, some other designers screwed him in the past, they didn’t deliver and that was why he had trust issues with me also. All I did to clear his doubts was just to remind him of the design I created for his project without requesting for a dime and he immediately accepted to pay the 50% deposit and it has been up from there.
So, back to the question “Should you do a design test before getting the actual gig?” If you can, Yes! It helps, once you see the client is showing a huge amount of interest, running up a quick sketch to show them just make things much more easier for you, once your client trusts you, that’s all you need, work flows and you can even get referrals.
I hope you learnt something? Have you ever done a test for a client and it landed you a gig? Yes or No? I want to see your answers in the comments.
Like and follow for more.
