Our immigration system is cruel, chaotic, and broken. In Dilley, I met dozens of families desperate for help because they have done nothing wrong and are suffering in prison while the system fails to function. These families, these children, are not a threat. It shouldn't take a chance encounter with a Member of Congress to have access to justice. I'm relentlessly fighting for better.

In Palitana, something happened that most of the world has never seen before. This city made a bold choice. Meat is no longer part of daily life there. Slaughterhouses were shut down. Butcher shops closed their doors. Selling or eating meat inside the city became illegal. This did not come from a trend or a government experiment. It came from deep belief. Hundreds of Jain monks protested. Many went on a hunger strike. They asked for a city that follows nonviolence in the purest form. No killing. No harm. And it worked. Around 250 butcher shops were forced to close. Thousands of animals were spared. For many people, it changed how they lived overnight. Not everyone agreed. Some lost their jobs. Some felt their choices were taken away. Others saw it as a powerful stand for compassion. No matter where you stand, one thing is clear. This is not just a policy. It is a statement. A whole city chose to say that life matters more than habit. And in a world where meat is everywhere, that choice stands out. Source: - Times of India... 🚨 KANE NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME RIGHT NOW 💔 - 2yo gentle boy surrendered before military deployment His owner carried him into Fulton County Animal Services because he was too scared to walk in. After 2+ weeks there, Kane is barely eating from severe anxiety. Sweet, gentle 2-year-old who does well with other dogs but is scared of cats. He desperately needs a quiet, safe place to decompress while his person serves our country. Long-term foster or adoptive home needed ASAP. Reply: - “I shared!” - “I can foster!” + your area - Or tag friends in Atlanta/Georgia Let’s get this boy out of the shelter and into a home where he can finally feel safe again. 🙏❤️ #SaveKane #MilitaryDeploymentDog #FultonCountyAnimalServices

FROM FB: URGENT💔💔💔Surrendering a pet is never an easy choice. But for Kane's owner, answering the call to military deployment meant making the heartbreaking choice to ensure Kane would be safe and cared for while they serve. They tried everything, but no one could take him. So on the last day before deployment, Kane was carried into the shelter because he was too scared to walk. His owner even had to help with intake to make it easier on Kane. Fast forward over two weeks and Kane is barely eating because his anxiety is so severe. I've taken him out three times and he warming up, but he still looks like he doesn't understand this place. Let's help out someone trying to do the right thing serving our country by getting Kane in a long term foster or adoptive home. He's a gentle 2 year old boy that has done well with dogs and is scared of cats. ***Edit to add-I am a volunteer and do not have details on the deployment, please reach out to the shelter with questions*** fcasdogs.com/Kane2 — at Fulton County Animal Services. Joe, another betrayed kitty who’s supposed to act all friendly and at ease after being dumped in a noisy, scary high kill shelter. I know Joe would be fine in a place where he could find his own comfy area with decent humans to take care of him. Please help him 💓🙏🏼💓

This designation often means that the cat will be given very little time for rescue/foster/adoption.🔥🔥🔥🔥 A volunteer writes: Perhaps feeling a little out of his depth here at the Care Center, Joe's taken to his den to sort things out. I don't want to assume, but I imagine there's an insurmountable kind of tinge to them only exacerbated by Joe's dedication to doing it all on his own. Joe came to us from a home with other cats and may prefer to do things this way as he also may not have a lot of experience meeting new people. We keep trying to explain that though we are new people, we also have treats, toys, blankets, and beds to offer. For his part, Joe seems almost entirely uninterested except not quite as he's adorably a little curious about treats. When it comes to making new friends or finding a forever family, we understand that Joe might have to try it his way first, we're just hoping that his forever family will love and appreciate his efforts as they welcome him into their home. 🚨 BOOST CREW — Kane is struggling badly with anxiety in the shelter 💔 His owner deployed for military service and had no choice but to surrender him. Now this sweet boy is barely eating and needs out. No dedicated rescue pledge page right now that I see - foster or adoption applications go straight to Fulton County Animal Services. More info in the post below🔽. Quote this + reply “I shared!” or tag anyone in Georgia/Atlanta who can foster or adopt. Let’s get Kane into a quiet home where he can finally relax and eat again. No dog should be this scared while his person is serving our country. 🐶🙏❤️ #SaveKane

She got slightly upset and gave a single hiss, but otherwise appeared reasonably calm and very sweet.
