@JonColes01 @BrightonHoveCC I can’t tell you how worried I am for kids with SEND in all this (I am the mother of 2 due to be affected), who seem to have been given precisely zero thought in this experiment. Really quite astonishing for a supposedly “progressive” council.

Truly extraordinary proposals from @BrightonHoveCC based on some very shaky pseudo-academic evidence. Surely no-one wants a return to council-led social engineering by busing? Maybe improving the weak schools would be a better strategy...

@MumsBack @RebeccaCNReid @annetteholliday @drruthannharpur Given that there are 600,000 babies born in the UK every year. The "It's only 1%" is 6000 very real women. It's like people have forgotten that once upon a time babies would be born, be "sickly" and die. Because some people cannot breastfeed despite their best attempts

Given that formula has to have a disclaimer that breast milk is the better option, I think breastfeeding promotional materials should have the equivalent disclaimer that it's not always possible to breastfeed.

Spent so much £ on lactation experts, pumps, teas, a drug that sounded like a champagne brand, acupuncture & god knows what else ….not to mention the tears & exhaustion - my milk just never came in. The “it’s only 1% who can’t” quote would haunt me…

@annetteholliday @drruthannharpur I had my daughter at full term. I then spent hundreds of hours and over two thousand pounds trying to breastfeed. I saw four midwives and spent two blocks of four hours with independent lacation experts. I had a hospital grade breast pump. I assure you, I could not breastfeed.
