@MuncasterPete

I'm lucky enough to live & work @ Muncaster Castle, Gardens + the Hawk & Owl Centre, described as Heaven's Gate by John Ruskin. History, wildlife & super views!

A farmer watching the Irish Open surrounded by his cows. When people talk about being effortlessly cool, this is who they're talking about.

@HelenSkelton Great to see that probably our most adventurous "Fool of Muncaster" has written a book about her exploits. Buying a copy to share with your undoubted ancestor/relative Thomas Skelton, the original "Tom Fool". I'm sure he'll love it! 🤣

Happy to support #LightItInRed campaign last night. Good to see the Chancellor has responded...but he could always do more!

Introducing #TudorTuesdays with @Historic_Houses:this week 'favourite artefact'. This is what is left of a statue of St Catherine, originally in a side chapel of the monastery - & unceremoniously chopped up & used as a building block in the mansion created by Edward North #Tudor

Spot @combermereabbey in this week's #TudorTuesdays by @Historic_Houses. This artefact was discovered under the floorboards during the restoration of the abbey, and was likely evidence of an old custom: using a shoe as an aprotopic charm to protect the house from evil. #History

During the #restoration of the #Tudor house's North Wing, a man's shoe was discovered under the floorboards. The shoe was probably used as an 'aprotopic charm' to protect the house from evil. Discover more about their #Tudor history here: combermere-restoration.co.uk #TudorTuesdays
