Den grønne trøje er nu så godt som sikker, og Mads kan køre frit efter sejren søndag. Jeg havde ikke ventet, at han kunne tage point i går og i dag. ASO ændrer ikke pointsystemet på baggrund af én udgave, men ingen kan have forestillet sig, at trøjen kunne vindes på denne måde.

@archivist42 @Agera_pizza I love AC, but I couldn’t get through AC1. Just too repetitive. I really like Revelations too, and I think it’s because Constantinople is the best AC city. At least that’s how I remember it.

@Agera_pizza I don’t hate the list entirely but definitely some bits to move around. AC1 gets credit for starting the series but definitely not S tier. Revelations I have no idea why that’s S tier - probably the weakest entry. I’d also bump Shadows up to an A minimum

@lgfp @UrbanCourtyard But there is no reason why development shouldn't happpen on that side of the river. Rivers aren't barriers. Downtown is literally right on the other side, so it makes no sense to have half a mile of parking lot before reaching the suburbs. Would be such a desirable neighborhood.

@UrbanCourtyard Like I said in my other reply, Nissan Stadium is traditionally located, right across the river that would split the city and the burbs (the fantastic streetcar suburbs of Nashville). They could learn a lesson from Seattle, the other place with a traditionally placed stadium.

I agree with everyone who said that sports stadia belong in cities and not exurbs. Lots of low-hanging development fruit in excess parking lots of urban stadia across the country. For example, the Nissan Stadium in Nashville.

@WalterH17231294 @UrbanCourtyard Public transport would certainly need to follow suit. People with cars aren't going to sell their car to move into this kinda place, if there is no public transport to get them around. In a perfect world, public transport gets built first.

@callmetrogdog @UrbanCourtyard Americans drive because there are no alternatives. If all the people who want to go to the stadium live close by or can easily take a bus/tram/metro, nobody is gonna drive. Tailgating is a valid concern though. Gotta look out for the sporting culture already in place.

@UrbanCourtyard You seem to be completely unaware of the driving habits of Americans. Where are the 30,000+ cars that go to each game going to park? Where would anyone tailgate?

@TheGovernology @MichaelNatelli They can be, but it often hurts the spectator experience. In Europe quite a lot of stadiums are built to house both football and athletics, but that means spectators sit very far from the pitch, because there needs to be space for the running track.

Football stadiums are the hardest case for urbanism because they just aren’t used as often (as many others have pointed out). So the new RFK Stadium project will be worth watching. It at least appears to be trying to build a real neighborhood around the stadium.

Inasmuch as this is a terrible gesture that should be punished, the reason why this outrage against Argentina is so much is because people don't like them. If they were the preferred team, most people wouldn't be this outraged. How do I know? Because last year when the more hated team won the Club World Cup and the losers got violent, many people didn't have a problem with it. Luis Enrique and other PSG players attacked and slapped Chelsea players, especially Joao Pedro, and most "neutral" fans said nothing. Just goes to show that what we find morally repugnant isn't purely a matter of principle. Emotions play a far bigger role in moral outrage than we think. 🤷🏾‍♂️

@RootRuns Greenland's bid was rejected last year because one of FIFA's criteria is that a country needs to have at least one stadium with natural grass. And Greenland is too cold for that to be possible.

@RootRuns A nation's Football Association needs to be accepted into FIFA to be able to qualify for the World Cup. FIFA have their own rules, which I believe aren't all that clear. But I'm pretty sure a FA of multiple countries wouldn't be accepted. Some actual countries aren't even in yet.

@insanely_sen @UrbanCourtyard In the original picture more or less half of the parking wasn't even used. And the stadium was completely filled. You don't need that much parking, if the infrastructure around it supports getting there without your car.

Looks amazing but what parking? The number of cars in front of an average Wallmart in the US blows my mind. This is the Metlife Stadium we are talking about with the American Dream mall- the second-largest mall in the US, immediately next to it. PS: my gym was right there across the Hackensack river in Secaucus, I could never find parking at the gym!

@JDoeDoe2 @UrbanCourtyard The biggest problem is, that the stadium was built there in the first place. But both schools and shops could easily work in that layout. Mixed use with shops on the ground floor. A school could just have an entire building for itself. This is in the middle of Copenhagen.

@UrbanCourtyard Pretty picture, but there's a reason it's the way it is. It's in the middle of nowhere. Poor public transit access, but surrounded by highways. You need the parking for the 80K that come to games. You built housing and courtyards, but where are the shops/restaurants/schools, etc?

American football used to be urban, too, before car culture pushed it to the burbs. The Bears played at Wrigley Field for 50 seasons! We used to be a country that was spatially disciplined, knew how to mix uses and even sports.

It’s not the biggest travesty that FIFA/the US have inflicted on us, but the stadium announcing yellow cards is pretty annoying. That better not catch on elsewhere

Efter Maradona i min barndom vil jeg altid holde med Argentina resten af mine dage. Der er ikke noget valg. Sådan må det være. Men jeg kommer ikke til at savne dette Scaloni-hold. For mig er det et ret uelskeligt hold. Messi og ti tatoverede, provokerende, ucharmerende baggårdskatte. Jeg savner smilene og det lange hår og de charmerende, karismatiske argentinere - også selvom de ikke vandt noget. Crespo, Batistuta, Veron, Ortega, Riquelme, Caniggia, Palermo, Zanetti osv. Argentinas spil var heller ikke kønt - hverken i dette eller det forrige VM. Det er, hvad det er. Man må spille med de midler, man har. Men det er bare svært at elske spillere som Otamendi, Paredes, Romero og Martinez. Jeg er sikker på, at argentinerne er totalt ligeglade med, hvad jeg synes. Holdet er nærmest afguder derhjemme, og det fortjener de også. De har fået store, store resultater. Men de vandt ikke mit hjerte.

@MarkusFurulund_ @prestigelisten Absolutely! But I understand why it’s not seen as prestigious as a Giro and Tirreno stage win. It’s close of course, but when they both have so few results, very few points will separate them, and you could find arguments for both being the greatest.
