𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: #𝗡𝗕𝗛𝗞 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗞𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗺’𝘀 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗙𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀, 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗨𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘀 I spoke briefly with Wayne Perry this morning. He’s the brother of Debra Greenlaw DeMello, one of NBHKs 11 victims, and founder/administrator of the “Shallow Graves: The Hunt for the New Bedford Highway Serial Killer” Facebook group. Wayne is excited to see all the new support from everyone on here. He’s not on X yet, but plans to make an account tonight so he can start speaking up and getting real support. For now, sharing this with his blessing. In August 2018 — 30 years after his sister’s murder — Wayne shared a frustrated post in his group about where things stood. It included photos of evidence boxes, and a powerful message. “Evidence accumulated from Highway murders and still not a clue who’s responsible,” he said. “Now it sits in a basement and collects dust like the case has for the past 30 years. Hopefully someday soon the waiting and wondering will be over.” Wayne wrote that six years ago. The waiting and wondering still isn’t over. “The investigators that looked into this had no experience at all with murders committed by a serial killer, so right there we were doomed,” he continued, in a comment on the same post. “How do you investigate something that you know nothing about.” It is worth noting that investigators certainly didn’t expect to find themselves facing a prolific serial predator, and several folks dedicated countless hours to the investigation, but Wayne’s point is valid — serial killer experts are needed in this case. “In my opinion, these pallets full of evidence are the lives of 11 women that will sit in a basement and collect dust for who knows how long,” he said. “I believe that, among everything that is in those boxes, there is also information that holds the answers to the murders of these 11 women. The only problem with this is, we need someone with the experience and intelligence to find it.” In December 2023, @othram posted here that they were willing to try and find it, using cutting-edge genomics. Othram also recently announced the addition of @PaulHoles to their team as a forensic investigator. Gee, Paul sure seems like someone experienced and intelligent enough to hunt a serial killer. “The killer is still out there,” said Wayne. “And until law enforcement decides to get off their ass he’s gonna continue be out there, while my family and the ten other families have to live with the pain knowing he got away with murder.” The #NBHK case is still led by the @MassStatePolice. Stay tuned for an update from Wayne. Time to hear more from the families. #newbedford #massachusetts #coldcase #unsolved

19 years ago reports surfaced about the discovery of 2 ID’s, one in New Hampshire & one in Vermont. My family was notified & LE investigated, neither were related to my sister Maura Murray. Sadly, nothing belonging to my sister has ever been found, re-confirmed with LE today

@SarahETurney Also, if they create AI photos of suspects and perpetrators, they will generate photos and media of victims, too. The lack of boundaries is concerning.

@SarahETurney It feels deceptive and scummy. The fact it wasn’t disclosed is pretty unethical. This was presented as a factual documentary that also includes other media of Jennifer, so there was no reason to believe those photos weren’t real, even if they seemed out-of-character.

It was a great conversation for both of us! It does take extra time to contact families, but it should be standard for anyone looking to make content about their loved ones. I feel weird NOT getting in touch with them before I do something. Another person who does this really well is Kristen Seavey @MurderTold - I’ll always loop her in for @UnsolvedRI cases now bc she does a beautiful job working w/ families like you. Nobody knows a case better than the family members fighting for it to be solved.

Update: I got the chance to connect with Kelsey and will be working with her to create a TikTok summary of her mom’s case. 💜 @crime_scenes always does an awesome job reminding us to ensure we have a family’s blessing before creating content about their loved ones. It really does make a difference. While I could’ve created a summary of Echo’s case on my own, I know what it’s like to stumble upon someone talking about your loved one, without ever having spoken with you, and how violating it feels. Instead, I got the chance to have a beautiful conversation with a fellow daughter seeking answers and let her know she has the final say in what’s shared about her mom on my platform. That feels good. Grateful for the reminder to always put families first and remain focused on #ethicaladvocacy.

I clicked to the FB group “Bring Echo Home,” scrolled through a few video updates and felt the wind get knocked out of me when I realized this Mother’s Day will mark four years since Echo Lloyd went missing in Missouri. Echo’s badass daughter Kelsey Smith has done everything she can to find her mom. My heart broke watching her video updates and reading interviews she’s done, seeing her excitement every time someone new showed interest — followed by the inevitable gap in updates that we all understand. Sometimes you just can’t find the words to explain how you feel in those moments. I recognize her desperation for answers. I feel it in my bones. All this woman wants is to know what happened to her mom. She’s created flyers and a group, done interviews, reached out to PIs and K9 SAR teams, begged police for support and more. I can’t overstate how exhausting that is. Yet she keeps going. There’s a special place in my heart for all families of missing persons. It’s why I’m a SAR volunteer. It’s tough to have to solve your mom’s suspicious death, but I can’t imagine what it’s like to not even know where your mom is, if she’s alive or deceased — to have absolutely no idea. At least I know my mom is dead. Kelsey doesn’t even know that much. How awful is that? I don’t know this woman, but I recognize the look in her eyes. She’s not going to give up until she knows what happened to her mom, and she needs our help. Please see the post below for the latest update and flyer shared by Kelsey. Share it out. Join her group and show her support. Let’s help this daughter find her mom. #HelpFindEchoLloyd

@shellshock27 I think it was one of the boys in the house, and they just don’t have the “evidence” to specifically pin which one did it beyond reasonable doubt. It sucks. And people know. They have information. Yet here we are.

@MurderTold Reading this case from a distance and when it occurred in 1999. Being a high level investigator, someone or them didn't like her choice in guys. Some high "offical"👮, judge, lawyer kids committed it. Who's going to be the one come forward....None.
