NBA Hall of Famer George Gervin is attempting to stop Bears QB Caleb Williams from trademarking “Iceman”, per @jjones9 “I’ve got nothing but respect for [Williams]. He’s already proved greatness and his potential upside is great. Like an ‘Iceman.’ But that name is taken….All I’m saying is: young fella, we’ve already got one ‘Iceman.’” - via @Suntimes

@RegiForTheWorld @bearszn @jjones9 Great players often have multiple nicknames (e.g. Jordan: MJ, Air Jordan, Black Jesus, GOAT, Babe Bambino, Sultan of Swat for Babe Ruth). Grange was also known as the Galloping Ghost. Grange was the first Ice Man.

@MurphBry @bearszn @jjones9 "Red" was his nickname. It was the name he went by. They called him the ICE Man but he went by "Red". George Gervin goes by "Iceman" and is known as "Iceman". Howard Grange doesn't need 2 nicknames to go by. "Red" has sufficed 100+ years.

Name a Day 3 prospect you want the #Bears to draft. I would love Iowa WR Kaden Wetjen as a backup slot receiver and a return specialist. Dynamic with the ball in his hands.

@startkyIeorton Part of the bit was that Tyson Bagent was being interviewed and they had him give his picks. He picked his preseason GWTD in that first matchup, btw.

"Carman is doing a bit" i would simply not do a bit that is predicated on me consistently looking like a giant fuckin moron all the time but that's just me

@JBSmartMoney @jjones9 George Gervin wasn't even the first sports figure with the nickname Ice Man. Red Grange had the nick name in the 20's because he was an actual Ice Man in the offseason. And the tv announcers called Caleb that because of his clutch plays in the icy weather.

@jjones9 George Gervin is the "Iceman" and it's unthinkable that anyone who knows sports would refer to someone other than George Gervin as the Iceman. Why would Caleb want the nickname when someone else made it a brand?

Dear internet, Apropos of nothing, my wife was a whore before she met me, a sexually pure man of God. But, like Jesus, I let the impure whore wash my godly feet and, in doing so, saved her from a cannonball dive into Hell. After 5 years of marriage, she is more pure than a virgin because we’ve only had dutiful sex exactly three times for the sole purpose of procreation. Both Jesus and I have forgiven the whore for her sinful premarital sexcapades (though we certainly haven’t forgotten) because that’s what good, pure Christians do. A woman’s past sexual sins matter (lest we forget), but what matters more is that I, in all my likeness to Jesus, was able to save the whore and make her a housewife. Christ the Lord is risen, Amen

@ClayTravis IMO, it's none of those. It's that the game has largely become star players trying to manipulate the refs into giving them free throws with blatant foul baiting tactics. I appreciate exploiting the stupidity of NBA officials is a smart tactic but it's not enjoyable to watch.

NBA ratings are at multi-decade lows for the NBA Finals. The NBA’s all time most watched game was in 1998. This year the NCAA tourney is setting all time record viewership. The Super Bowl all time high was two years ago. Why has NBA tanked while other leagues soared? Vote below.

@BearsBuzzTings @jacobinfante24 No, but it mattered for Shea McCllelin, Larry English, Troy Edwards, Breshad Perriman, David Carr, etc., etc. There's a reason scouts and GMs always talk about wanting to see small school guys compete against big school guys every draft cycle.

@BearsBuzzTings @jacobinfante24 Level of competition matters. How many future NFL players did EMW play against in his entire college career? Dominating future used car salesman doesn't mean you will do the same against NFL players. Especially, when you didn't test as an elite NFL athlete. There is risk there.

@jacobinfante24 I actually think EMW’s tape is better It doesn’t matter he’s playing lesser competition to me just look at that raw potential Thieneman doesn’t strike me as the type of guy who can stop a big rb alone in a gap EMW literally does it all

@WillLand @jacobinfante24 Yep, you would be betting on his physical tools and potential to lead to elite production in the NFL. I think fans of all teams are leery because hoping for someone to be able to do something in the NFL they haven't done before often doesn't work out.

@black_42 How about because he's been injury prone in college and WR's have no impact from the bench.

@CeeVee3YT Only one of the times you cited as a reason to trade up for a RB because you think there is a desperate need to improve upon the 3rd ranked rush offense in the NFL actually won a SB. And that team didn't trade for the RB it signed him in FA. That history.

@BShulkes @bosman1973 That's just how Poles manages the cap. They're going to fund the stadium primarily on loans which is why they need Illinois to pass the PILOT legislation, so they can secure better terms based on cost projections, so their are no financial obligations tied to the build yet.

@MurphBry @bosman1973 That wouldn’t make it not a cash issue, they’re building a new stadium and looking multiple years out to future signings, like the QB. The term broke doesn’t mean they’re actually in poverty, just by comparison, for an nfl org they’re tight on cash

It’s weird bears weren’t on Trey Hendrickson at all despite the massive need and DA connection. It’s almost like he was a free agent, where all it took was $, and so thus there wasn’t something they could afford to offer. Crosby they were calling, does 2 7s work? Oh. We tried!

@CeeVee3YT If a SB is the goal history shows your plan is unlikely to work. Also, the Bears had the 3rd ranked rush offense in the NFL which is pretty great.

@CeeVee3YT The 49ers have won zero SB's with CMC, the Ravens just missed the playoffs, the Lions lost in the playoffs because of the holes on its defense. The Eagles won one but that was a FA signing that didn't cost them picks and Barkley didn't play up to his contract last year.

@CeeVee3YT The Bears took the BPA at 10. Ben didn't sign off on trading up for a luxury pick. If Love was available at 25 you would have an argument but chasing something you don't need to succeed and neglecting a major deficiency (plus losing an asset in a better draft) is reckless.

Well I hate to break it to you, but there isn’t a pass rusher available at 25 that is fixing this pass rush. You can get plenty of run stuffers, but the big three of pass rush specialists (Bain, Bailey, Reese) will all be gone by pick 8. Everyone else is a major crapshoot in comparison to those guys. Drafting a player just based off the sole fact he plays a position of need is terrible GMing. You get a player that you feel MOST confident will turn out to be elite. Thats why Ben signed off on drafting Loveland at pick 10 even though we had a solid TE in Kmet and had needs at LT, DE and EDGE.
