An amazing event in Vienna tonight. The first semi- final of Eurovision 2026 took place, RTE didn’t participate nor broadcast the show, no one there cared, Irish viewers tuned into BBC, the world continued revolving on its axis & the 10 successful performers were selected. And as RTE News feels the need to repetitively report its totally irrelevant boycott & to repetitively demonise Israel , the entire world is on tender hooks (NOT) awaiting RTE NUJ now having to report that despite their best efforts Israel made it to the final. Tragic!

I condemn the launch of hundreds of bombs and drones on Ukraine last night. Russia’s actions stand in stark contrast to Ukraine’s offer to extend the three-day ceasefire. They underline in very clear terms who the aggressor is. Ireland stands with Ukraine and for peace.

The state should completely subsidise farms, help folks resettle into the countryside. Give 0% mortgages on farms for long term occupancy, compulsory purchase derelict village stores, pubs, and offer them to young families at long term low rates. Build schools and shops in local villages. Refocus on the land.
