The sacrifice of Abraham’s son Isaac, the child of promise, serves as a foreshadowing of what God would later accomplish through His only begotten Son, Jesus. At the time God gave Abraham this command, Isaac was his only covenantal son. Hagar and Ishmael had already been sent away. The Bible is very clear and consistent on this: Isaac, not Ishmael, was the one placed on the altar. Any book that claims it was Ishmael is simply rewriting history. Isaac was the spotlight because he was the son of the divine promise. Just as Isaac was Abraham’s only son in the covenant, Jesus is the only begotten Son of God. Abraham deeply loved Isaac and God deeply loved Jesus. Yet Abraham willingly obeyed God’s instruction without hesitation, just as God later carried out His redemptive plan without wavering. On the mountain, at the very place of sacrifice, God provided a ram as a substitute. This act revealed a profound truth: animal sacrifices would never be enough. God Himself would one day provide the perfect, permanent atonement for sin through Jesus Christ. Therefore, Abraham’s test was not only about obedience, it was also God progressively unveiling His salvation plan for humanity. Shalom.

@illegalLuminary @Ihunanya_chi You haven't dealt with the line: Sacrifice your only son. When the only son of Abraham for a while was Ishmael i.e before Isaac was born. I don't believe that Abraham was a deadbeat who abandoned his son.

Show evidence according to your Holy Books. How did Ishmael get on that sacrificial alter? We want to see that evidence. Isaac was promised to Abraham and Sarah and not to any other woman. Isaac was the promise God made to Sarah and not to Hagar. Abraham had two sons; one was the promise son to Sarah. One other guy was not.

@illegalLuminary @Ihunanya_chi Again... Fact is that even though Ishmael was far away from Abraham it doesn't mean that he was not his son.. Secondly, are you saying that Abraham was a deadbeat and never visited his son and stayed with him for different periods

@illegalLuminary @Ihunanya_chi Plus the Qur'an shows that Ishmael was in his youth when Abraham was going to sacrifice him. Not a child at the bosom. Christian apologists really have no knowledge about Islam.

Ishmael was sent away with his mother on God’s command. Muslims deliberately avoid that part of the narrative. Did Abraham return to snatch Ishmael from the mother’s bosom to carry him into the mountain to sacrifice him? Muslims will avoid that question too. No logic in Islam ☪️, just believe anything they say Mohammed said or did. Don’t question it. Don’t use your brain 🧠.

@Musa_Millington @Ihunanya_chi In Genesis 22, Abraham already had 2 sons (Ishmael and Isaac), so ONLY SON cannot be Ishmael. Agreed? At the same time, Ishmael has been sent away, so Isaac becomes the ONLY SON. Does that help?

Any Christian who rejects the divinity of Jesus… bros what exactly are we doing here? Any Christian who says “Jesus is not the Son of God”… accidentally joined the wrong faith, that is an anti-christ spirit. Any Christian who thinks Jesus was created, hasn’t read the Bible and has no idea of what the Bible says. Bro is confused… Any Christian who rejects the cross has abandoned the very heart of the Gospel. You are not even a Christian to begin with. Any Christian who rejects the Old Testament is misguided, needs repentance and understanding. Any Christian who rejects Paul’s message also rejects the message Christ entrusted to him. That is not a Christian but a hater. Any Christian who builds doctrine outside the authority of the Bible is spiritually confused and needs help. Any Christian who rejects the Bible cannot truly stand on the Christian faith. Never 👎 Any Christian who says Christianity and Islam serve the same God is deeply misguided and needs the Holy Spirit. Any Christian who agrees with the teachings of Muhammed or Joseph Smith, shouldn’t even be called a Christian, that is a confused human… Pick a struggle bro Lastly, any Christian who constantly cherry-picks Scripture like a buffet menu and selectively chooses what to believe is not standing fully on the truth of God’s Word.

There is a difference. Christians claim Jesus is god, so worshiping him is consistent with their claim. However, Muslims claim they are purely monotheists yet their practical theology makes Muhammad more important than god.

@DanBurmawy Respectfully, Jews were persecuted for centuries for rejecting Jesus and refusing to accept him as the son of God, and the Holy Trinity.

Advice: Call to Islam Stop debating these apologists like Illogic, Wood and others. They are just ragebaiting. Spend time calling and discussing Islam with people who are sincere and wish to learn.

@DanBurmawy So in Genesis 22 when it said Sacrifice your only son, Ishmael wasn't Abraham's son? Anyway dude, historically the Arabs had the horns of the Ram slaughtered by Abraham until the period when Hajjaj took the Kabah from Ibnu Zubair. Sufyan Ath Thawri mentioned that.

Why Isaac, Not Ishmael? Today, Muslims around the world celebrate Eid al-Adha, believing it marks the moment Abraham was willing to sacrifice his son Ishmael. But this narrative, recast centuries later by Muhammad, hijacks the original account and distorts it. In the Bible, the foundation of both Jewish and Christian traditions, the son on the altar was not Ishmael, but Isaac. Ishmael was the result of human effort, Abraham’s attempt to fulfill God’s promise through his own performance, through Hagar, Sarah’s maidservant. It was a solution born out of impatience and control. But God’s redemptive plan was never about what man could do for God, it was always about what God would do for man. Isaac was the son of promise. He was born not through human scheming but through divine intervention. Sarah was barren. Abraham was old. His very existence was a miracle. Isaac represents grace, God doing the impossible, fulfilling His covenant not through man’s effort, but through His own power and faithfulness. The apostle Paul said that Hagar, the mother of Ishmael, represented Mount Sinai, where the law was given, a symbol of human striving, condemnation, and bondage. But Sarah, the mother of Isaac, represented Jerusalem above, freedom, grace, and divine sonship. Ishmael is law; Isaac is gospel. If God had asked Abraham to offer Ishmael, it would mean He was demanding a sacrifice born of human effort. But He wasn’t. He was foreshadowing the ultimate sacrifice, Christ, the Lamb of God, also born of a miraculous promise, also offered by His Father on a hill. Isaac was the prototype of substitutionary atonement. He symbolized the Son not born of the flesh but of the Spirit, God’s initiative, not man’s. To replace Isaac with Ishmael is theological vandalism. It exchanges grace for works, divine election for human performance, and the gospel for law. That’s why Isaac, not Ishmael. Because salvation was never meant to begin with our striving, it was always meant to begin with God’s promise.

Would you rather have a ruler whose advisors advise toward sin and concerts? Or one who advises toward major innovation like that of the Mu'tazilah and the Raafidah. One of them is worse. Clue: Read about the reign of Mamoon, Mutasam and Al Waathiq then decide.
