'Clearing' - Ambisonic music by Vince Webb, visuals remixed from a tilt brush sketch by @VR_Rosie. Plucking guitars rotate serenely around your head as an owl hoots off to your right. youtube.com/watch?v=D9UbZI…

For composers interested in surround mixing for VR: I recommend @WavesAudioLtd NX and B360 with head tracker. It integrates beautifully into my Logic X workflow. Don't let the 'gentle' nature of the directionality fool you, it has powerful dramatic potential! #GameAudio #VR

@samanthaKgorman The contemporary condition being one in which forms of art which were once static are now potentially dynamic. That's a pretty big shift I'd say and bound to cause some anxiety 😆 I'm still fumbling through my new found role as 'music designer' as well as 'composer'.

Lots of semantic anxiety over naming the practice variously known as: "Interactive Writing," "Digital Storytelling," "Expanded Narrative" . . . what these terms 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 point to is the contemporary condition of the practice itself. Eventually, it will be "writing"

When designing music for VR, directionality matters. 3D spatialised music, can sound more open, integrated with SFX and can frame objects, characters and vistas. 2D on the other hand, can be more intense, direct, claustrophobic, abstract or intimate. #vr #servethestory

Great talk by @colum - head of experiences at @oculus. Love the example of Jaws 'dolly zoom' 🦈 as an example of a dramatic device impossible on any other medium. So much creativity on display here and a challenge to VR creators to redefine storytelling youtu.be/lVWvaLZ_wHY?t=…

How does music emanate from the virtual space? Does it suggest a particular focus? Does it modulate gently as you travel, suggesting warm patches of sunlight on the leafy ground? Or swing wildly about your head as you attempt to orient yourself to the new direction of gravity?
