@Constructmusic Do you do them on your original session? I almost always make wide stems and do it from that. Occasionally I’ll fix something from the original tracks. Maybe that’s just me with my music editor hat on?

That synth sound at 7 seconds in on the Grand Bazaar, Istanbul cue from Skyfall is just incredible. It really opens out the cue from those quiet tremolo strings into a wider soundscape. Classic Thomas Newman.
In fact, I love all the synths used in that score.

@BAFTA 2024 Film awards nominations for @NapoleonMovie and Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget. Outstanding British film and Animation respectively. Pretty chuffed with that. It’s been a busy 18 months!

#Napoleon Leicester Square last night. Great to watch it again after some time away. I’d forgotten how there’s a healthy dose of comedy with an audience in a good way! Lots of military drums and arrangements of trad stuff from yours truly. Please do go see it.

Soho is a nervous looking place this afternoon. If it’s anything like the last writer’s strike in 07-08, it will hit us worst after about 6 months. And back then the actors didn’t strike. I’m terrified about the timing of this. And if I am, what about those just starting?

If you see WGA members excited about a SAG strike, it's not because we want to be striking.
It's because it makes it more likely that everyone in the industry returns to work much sooner.
This has always been about AMPTP making a deal that allows our occupations to be a career.

@bendeville @SpitfireAudio Right. That’s what I thought. So there’s a gap for a company to manage the AI images of the actors if that’s the way we’re going. License per film to create, say, a medieval crowd using a known subset of image samples. Artists reimbursed. Probably not as simple as that but hey.

@MusicEditorcouk @SpitfireAudio Put like that it seems very straightforward doesn’t it? We pay royalties to the musicians that played on our sample libraries every time we sell one.

AI capturing an actor’s image and then using it in perpetuity. Totally nuts. BUT, isn’t it the same as sampling in a musical context? What can we learn from @SpitfireAudio and the likes about making sure artists are correctly and appropriately reimbursed?
