@MuslimAcademic

I read and review books. A Muslim who follows the historical critical method. I hate apologists who insult other people's religions.

It’s my day off, which means a new thread tonight on Al-Ghazali and the divine command theory of the early Ashʿarites.

Does God praise Himself? I just read this in Qurtubi's commentary on the Qur'an. He is responding to the Qur'an itself saying (in the Fatiha), "praise be to God Lord of the worlds" and since God spoke the words of the Qur'an, this is God saying "praise be to God."

@N4w4fKholin @human178526 I personally believe in a form of deistic naturalism that allows for the possibility of divine inspiration, but in a subtle, abstract way rather than as direct intervention.

@MuslimAcademic @human178526 "Divinely inspired" and "naturalism" are contradictory. If you want to be a kafir, be a kafir wholeheartedly at least.

@IslamMumin30 @human178526 Does it make you feel proud of putting Jesus on a cross next to a pride flag just to piss of christians? Honestly despicable behavior in my opinion personally but may god guide you.

@IslamMumin30 @human178526 Yes In academia, there is no consensus on the issue of whether or not the Quran views the bible itself as textually corrupted. Even though I think that the Quran accuses the scriptures of being corrupted, I'm pretty agnostic about that and open to new ideas. what's the problem?

@LibanG987 The issue is that the Bible provides no physical description of him. In the New Testament, Jesus is portrayed as an apocalyptic figure who views himself as a unique eschatological authority, with no mentioning of a future prophet.

@IslamMumin30 @human178526 the Quran, despite it's accusation of scriptural fasciation (which is debatable in academia) still reveres the bible as a holy book despite it's corruption.
