@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick What evidence would you take to verify the accounts of the Gospels? Under your argument it would be impossible to verify that someone like, for example, Alexander the Great ever existed bc of lack of evidence.

@MustachioMo1 @ot @oliverburdick At this point I'm just a broken record. That is another claim made by the book, which seems to me as a plot device to solve the fact that an empty tomb is best explained by a grave robbery.

500 people saw Jesus risen from the dead. You can't make this up.

@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick I mean you can doubt the historicity of the gospels all you want, but they are literally used as sources of history for that time period. All the locations in them are archaeologically verified, for example. I hope that you keep searching and make the right choice 🙏

@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick The tomb was guarded by a Roman squadron that would have been put to death if they had allowed disciples to steal the body. Also, why would the disciples steal it? They would have known that Jesus was lying if he never resurrected himself anyway.

@MustachioMo1 @ot @oliverburdick An empty tomb is not an evidence of resurrection. Someone stealing that body is even more likely. How do you infer a resurrection from an empty tomb?

@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick 2. If they were all collaborating on the gospels, it would be likely that the stories would have all been much the same. The fact that each gospel has different information is evidence to the contrary imo. 3. He was physically blinded, idk if that can occur from a simple vision

@MustachioMo1 @ot @oliverburdick 2. The Gospels weren't written independently. Mathew and Luke especially seem to know of mark (synoptic problems) . 3 IDC about paul or his conversion. From the descriptions of his conversions he probably saw a vision which people.

@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick 4. The tomb being empty was reported by female witnesses, which in that culture, were considered not as reliable. This means that if the accounts were a lie, a different story would have been used to convince people, lending credibility to the accounts.

@MustachioMo1 @ot @oliverburdick Give me a brief summary of the data that points to the Christian God, plus this evidence of resurrection. The books has to have some data right?

@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick I have a few: 1. 11 of the 12 disciples were killed for their faith. If they had known that the resurrection was a lie, they would not have preached about it. The fact that they continued to do so in the face of death lends credibility to the historicity of the resurrection.

@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick That argument was just to point out that the Christian God wasn't anything like those described in Greek mythology. I will continue in your other comment

@BenbellahOwino @ot @oliverburdick As for the second part of your question, are you familiar with the Summa Theologiae? It's a giant book written by Thomas Aquinas that explains in detail why the first cause is God. It's pretty thorough and free online, but I also think the best evidence is Jesus's resurrection.

@MustachioMo1 @ot @oliverburdick Apart from creator Yahweh exhibits all the characteristics you sat he doesn't. And what evidence do you have that it is the Christian God who is the cause?

@oliverburdick Not only can I make that up, I can make even more crazy stuff up. Try me. Like one time, 6000 people saw jesus do a loop-de-loop in the sky while farting loudly the whole time.

@ot @oliverburdick The Christian God is fundamentally different than Zeus. Zeus is human-like, feels anger, takes revenge, and didn't create the universe. The Christian God must exist bc every contingent being has a cause. There cannot be an infinite series of causes, meaning there must be a first.

@oliverburdick Oliver, take this as an honest question: can you present one single piece of evidence for the existence of your god that you would accept as proof of existence for any other god that you don't believe in? Let's take Zeus as an example.

@laklak_politi @oliverburdick To be fair, it's not like many people could read or write in 50 A.D... the point of Paul writing that is so that anyone who was skeptical could literally go and talk to the people who witnessed Jesus

@DerekAl79811475 @oliverburdick 1 Corinthians 15:6. Paul was writing to the Corinthians about it to basically say that these people were still alive, and if the Corinthians didn't believe him, then they could literally go talk to the people that saw Jesus after he raised from the dead.

@jordan_topscott @Togasweatyfeet @Urban__Tree Job 1:12 NIV [12] The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.” Then Satan went out from the presence of the Lord. God sends satan on job by his own will

@YRukov93458 @johnyancy84 @Michaeldudufudu Yep, it shows that homosexuality is condemned in the New Testament. Mark 7:21 "For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder." Jesus condemns sexual immorality which includes homosexuality as Jews at that time would agree
