A video showed Mallam Nasiru El-Rufa'i’s mother shedding tears because she had not seen him for some days while he was away abroad as Governor of Kaduna State. One can only imagine the pain she must have felt, not seeing her son for over 40 days while she was sick, even more heartbreaking if she realized he had been arrested due to political witch-hunt. From this, it is clear how strong the bond between mother and son was. The cleric who tried to force Mallam Nasiru El-Rufa'i to forgive Governor Uba Sani and others during his mother’s burial failed to show compassion. At that moment, El-Rufa'i only needed a hug and comforting words to soothe his soul, not political pressure.
