Huge announcement today to improve access to primary care in Brockville and area! Joined John Jordan, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Health Sylvia Jones, and local healthcare partners to announce our government is investing $2.1 million to connect 4,845 people to a team-based primary care provider. Thank you to the partners for submitting this proposal, funded under our government’s Primary Care Action Plan. This means thousands of people will get the care they need, keeping them healthier and out of hospital emergency rooms. Learn more: steveclarkmpp.com/ontario-connec…

“So, to every procurement leader, business owner, and supply chain manager reading this: ask your suppliers where their goods are made. Ask them to source Canadian where they can. Ask them to stand with Canadian workers.”

After 38 years as a Knight, I expected the organization to stand unequivocally with the Holy Father when a president mocked him. What I got instead was a carefully worded both-sides statement that valued political access over the principles we were supposed to embody.
Knights of Columbus@KofC

Statement From Supreme Knight Patrick Kelly: In recent days, many Catholics and other people of goodwill have been deeply disappointed by the disparaging comments directed at Pope Leo XIV by the President of the United States. The Successor of Saint Peter is not a politician — he is the Vicar of Christ, entrusted with proclaiming the Gospel and shepherding souls. The Knights of Columbus has always stood in solidarity with the Holy Father, recognizing in him a spiritual father who calls the world not to division, but to unity, not to conflict, but to peace. In this moment, we reaffirm that commitment with clarity and conviction. At the same time, we recognize that faithful Catholics can and do engage vigorously in the public square, and that nations have a right and duty to safeguard the security of their own people — always in accordance with the demands of justice and the pursuit of peace. The Church does not ask Catholics to withdraw from civic life, but to engage with and elevate it — bringing to our civic dialogue the light of truth, respect for the dignity of every human person, and a steadfast concern for the common good. Pope Leo XIV has consistently called for peace, dialogue, and restraint in a world marked by war and suffering. The Holy Father’s words are not political talking points — they are reflections of the Gospel itself. Whether one agrees or disagrees with particular policy judgments, the Holy Father’s prophetic voice deserves to be heard with respect and engaged seriously. As Knights, we are called to be men of unity, as followers of Christ and patriotic citizens. I encourage all Knights of Columbus to pray for the Holy Father, to pray for civic leaders, and to pray for peace and those working to achieve it. And let us recommit ourselves to charity in our public discourse. May we be known not for echoing the divisions of our time, but for healing them. In a moment of tension, the path forward is not louder conflict, but deeper fidelity — to truth, to charity, and to the Gospel.

My cousin just discovered this artifact in a file my Dad prepared. It's a handwritten letter from the people of Dacre, Ontario, a very small community in the Ottawa Valley, to my grandfather Gerald Holmes upon his return after serving as a 38 year old soldier on D-Day, storming Juno Beach, and surviving to help liberate Holland. We believe this undated letter was written in 1946, and delivered to Gerald at a dinner in his honour. It had us in tears this morning. It's simply beautiful. Dacre was a small community of simple farmers who endured years of suffering in poverty. Many of them couldn't even read. We hope as many Canadians as possible will read it, and reflect on it deeply like we did. -Michael Gerald Gibbs on behalf of Lynn Holmes and Gerald's family "Dear Gerald, We your old friends and neighbours are assembled this evening to welcome you back to Dacre. We are all very glad to see you here safe and sound without any of the scars of battle and I am sure your wife, sisters and brothers are doubly glad. You have gone through the hardships and trials of battle and risked your life so that we Canadians might have our freedom and security. The thanks that we offer you can never in any way repay you brave, courageous boys who were not afraid to give their all for the preservation of civilization. We also take this occassion tonight to congratulate you on your recent marriage and we hope that you and Mrs. Holmes will have many, many happy years of wedded life together. We are indeed very proud of you Gerald, you, who did not shirk when duty called and we know your relatives are justly proud of you too. Canadians and the world at large owe you a great debt which we can never repay. So we ask you to accept this little token of our appreciation. - Signed on behalf of the people of this Community No. Grattan." @petermansbridge

Yesterday in Brockville, Premier @FordNation and I announced a Request for Qualifications to build the new Brockville Correctional Complex and expand the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre.   Our government was elected with a mandate to Protect Ontario, and that means taking real action to keep dangerous and repeat offenders off our streets.   We’re doing exactly that by building more correctional capacity, strengthening the bail system, and ensuring there is always space to keep criminals behind bars where they belong.

Thrilled to have Premier Doug Ford, Solicitor General Michael Kerzner, and Minister of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement Stephen Crawford here today to deliver some exciting news about the new Brockville Correctional Complex and St. Lawrence Valley Correctional Treatment Centre. We’re adding 20 beds to the project to keep even more dangerous offenders off the streets. The RFQ to select the team to build the new complex has also been issued. Replacing the 184-year-old Brockville Jail is a priority project for me to ensure our outstanding correctional workers have the modern facility they deserve. I’m pleased that work to prepare the site has started. Thanks to Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley Mayor Brant Burrow and Matt Wren, Mayor of Brockville for joining today’s announcement. Building safer communities means ensuring our correctional system has the capacity to keep criminals behind bars and off our streets. Proud to join Premier @fordnation and @SteveClarkPC to announce that Ontario has begun accepting proposals from qualified construction teams to build the Brockville Correctional Complex and expand the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre. Once complete, the project will add 295 new adult correctional beds as part of our government’s plan to Protect Ontario by delivering 1,436 new correctional beds across the province by 2032. 🔗 news.ontario.ca/en/release/100… @stcrawford2 @Mwrenfd
