@BalesBets I always thought nothing could escape from a black hole. Even on the other side.

I've long been attracted to the theory of black holes giving way to new universes - our own universe being the "inside" of a black hole from a preceding universe - and universes effectively undergoing natural selection based on their "DNA" (physical laws); the more black holes a universe can create, the more "offspring" it can have. However, I never considered that the most common type of black hole in theory should be very tiny ones created by advanced intelligent life for energy production, which would mean the majority of new universes are sprung from those with the precise physical laws to allow for advanced intelligent life. So why are we here, despite what appears to be overwhelming odds against us? If universe formation is almost entirely driven by black holes from universes that allow for such life (because they create such an astounding number of mini black holes), and physics are passed on to child universes like DNA, then super-advanced civilizations would be the norm, not an exception. We're here because we're in an evolved universe that was selected for. Darwin wins again, this time at cosmic scale.
