Today, President Biden put forward a clear, realistic and just plan to establish an immediate ceasefire and end the war in Gaza - a plan that ensures Israel’s security, returns hostages taken on October 7th to their families, increases aid into Gaza and relieves the suffering of Palestinian civilians, and engages Israelis, Palestinians, Arab countries and the broader international community in the process of rebuilding Gaza. A ceasefire alone won’t ease the terrible pain of Israelis whose loved ones were butchered or abducted by Hamas, or the Palestinians whose families have been shattered by the subsequent war. It won’t resolve the longstanding conflict between Israelis and Palestinians, or answer contentious issues surrounding a two-state solution or continuing settler activity in the West Bank. But what it can do is put a stop to the ongoing bloodshed, help families reunite and allow a surge of humanitarian aid to help desperate, hungry people. It can save lives, here and now - and it can lay the foundation for what will be a long and difficult road to a future in which Israel is secure and at peace with its neighbors, and Palestinians finally have the security, freedom and self-determination that they have sought for so long. As the tragedy in Gaza has unfolded over the past eight months, we’ve witnessed an often fierce public debate here at home - and around the world - regarding how the United States should respond. But no matter where each of us stand in these broader debates, an enduring ceasefire is something we should all support - for the sake of Israelis, Palestinians and the world at large. I am deeply encouraged by the steady, tireless efforts of President Biden, Secretary of State Tony Blinken and our diplomatic team to bring this awful war to an end.

There is just no time left for a Palestinian state. How can a state be a viable proposition when it has no control over its borders, when there is a military occupation, and when towns are cut off from each other by a system of roads and checkpoints? For a two-state solution to work, Israel must physically remove its military bases as well as hundreds of thousands of settlers from all the Occupied Territories including Jerusalem. most Palestinians have all but given up on the two-state solution. “The feeling in the Occupied Territories is that the Israelis have effectively killed off the two-state solution by building settlements on Palestinian land.

The Palestinians are the ones rejecting a two-state solution because they want a one-state solution. They don’t want Israel to exist.

Thanks to the establishment of hundreds of Jewish-only settlements all over the West Bank, along with the transfer of over half a million Jewish settlers onto the territory, originally slated for some sort of a Palestinian entity, the very idea of establishing a viable and territoriality contiguous Palestinian state or quasi-state becomes futile and absurd. You just can not undo the seemingly indelible facts that make this solution utterly impossible , You can not revive the dead and the 2 state-solution is dead. What is the alternative? Well, there are two potential alternatives: 1- a unitary non-apartheid state in mandatory Palestine, from the River Jordan to the Mediterranean, where all citizens, irrespective of ethnicity and religion, live in peace and equality. 2-The other alternative, which is more probable, is Open ended conflict

Having made this issue abundantly clear, I believe we must not lump anti-Semitism (hating Jews for being Jews) with legitimate criticisms of Israel, a manifestly criminal, bellicose state that practices apartheid and indulges in abominable acts of ethnic cleansing and persecution against the Palestinian people. However, I do believe that Israel, which murders our people knowingly and deliberately almost on a daily basis, has no moral high ground to stand on or boast about. Israeli crimes, which assume numerous forms, all of them ugly and nefarious, constitute an eternal indictment of the Jewish state and its political and security officials.

And the attack didn't come out of the blue and the conflict actually started many decades ago, with the usurpation of Palestine by Zionist and the expulsion of its native Muslim and Christian inhabitants from their ancestral homeland.
