@CuriosityonX The brain is a vessel for the fruit of salvation

@dioscuri The stalwart oak has a strong foundation but its branches know how to sway in the wind

Imagine if @X had a Focus mode...
Instead of an endless scrolling feed scattering your attention, there is a book. You open the first page and there is one post. You turn the page and there is another post. You are only ever shown one thing at a time. You have a chance to sit with it and reflect and then engage.
You can choose the size of the book, and the type of posts you see. It's a journal of humankind tailored to you. No videos? No problem. Text only? Coming right up.
Scrolling makes everything move faster. Slow down.

@nikitabier But few find solace in the untrodden path for they haven't the patience to walk among the trees

@signulll The real preparation happens when you sleep. Trust the process and it'll free your mind!
English

i rarely if ever truly prepare for anything anymore.
at some point, your entire life either becomes the preparation or it doesn’t.
& if the accumulated pattern of how i think, work, notice, respond, synthesize, improvise, & stay calm under pressure hasn’t prepared me for the thing in front of me, i doubt a few frantic days/hours beforehand are going to save me.
i find it way more useful to just breathe & not think about it too much.

One sometimes hears that powering the brain requires less energy than a light bulb - a mere 20 watts!
It's incredibly efficient, there's no doubt about it. But the light bulb does what it's supposed to. Some can be made brighter, and most can be replaced easily enough.
Brain is fickle and demanding and cannot be replaced. It's 20 watts whether you like it or not. Or maybe 12, but would you notice the difference?
The light inside you is all that you have. The real fuel is not energy but attention, and everyone wants it. So protect it like fire under a stormy sky. Nurture it and play with it and feed it with wonder. You are not a machine but a life and the die is not cast.

@jmrphy The tree would say that you should plant some seeds

The big problem with getting any kind of substantive work done right now is that it feels so much more rational to work on the factory that produces the substantive work, instead of the work itself.
It’s like the woodsman who was once asked: “What would you do if you had just five minutes to chop down a tree?"
The woodsman: "I would spend the first two and a half minutes sharpening my axe.”
Well, what if you only had 30 years left to achieve greatness?
"You should probably spend 15 years building the most effectively calibrated and defensible, recursively self-improving systems for the production of great work.”
AI psychosis or a perfectly rational strategy?
