I’m very confused about the number of people who think “property tax” is a sales tax on you home rather than taxes to pay for public services you use every day. “I paid off my home why do i still pay property taxes?!?!?” Oh, did you also stop using the roads and libraries and sidewalks and parks? Not worried about fires anymore?

There isn't a model, so we must push back when Elon and others (richest in the world) are lying through their teeth. eg: The world would have abundance from humanoid robots by 2040. Run some numbers on that. The global car manufacturing industry produces 90m cars a year, do you believe he can produce 10B humanoid robots in 14 years? It's not scalable, on many fronts. Its just BS.

If I lost a brain cell every time I saw someone claim that Universal Basic Income was communism, I'd have become stupid enough to say it myself. AI is here. Jobs are being automated. And capitalism requires consumers with money to spend. Consider where this is going without UBI.

@ZKDID_ @scottsantens If it’s a fantasy then it’s also a fantasy that any country can fairly manage its resources regardless of how many have jobs or how its wealth is created. Otherwise show me a real world example where that happens in any non-AI economy. If not, as mentioned- separate issue.

It sounds great, but its a fantasy, I am sorry, I don't wish to be rude, but I am quite concerned about anyone who doesn't resist and push back and ask for concrete answers. There is not a real world model for what we are discussing, this is a fact, it's all theoretical, but Elon will have you believe everything is going to be fine while he sips the finest champagne in the world with his other trillionaire buddies, they are not our friends. Please study this more and if you are so convinced, help policy makers figure it out, but be real, we're talking about full financial support, from health to housing, food, holidays, transport, even Christmas presents. Please for the sake of your fellow citizens, dig deeper and really question what we're talking about! They said UBI the B stands for "Basic" ie, low income!

@ZKDID_ @scottsantens I think the difference we have is that I view how a country manages its wealth as a separate issue from how it creates it. AI is not a boogeymen that automatically means poor wealth management.

@ZKDID_ @scottsantens Sure, Norway is a mixed economy, but how it handles its oil wealth is a model for how the distribution of AI generated wealth could work. That’s all I’m saying. Regardless of how wealth is generated, there will always be countries that manage it poorly.

@conservmillen My husband was raised in a Protestant church, his family left the church when the pastor decided on his own accord to “marry” two women, afterward the pastor simply took a vote of the members of the church.

When the Pope makes questionable comments, it makes me GRATEFUL to be Catholic. Because the Pope has no authority to unilaterally change Catholic dogma with his pastoral comments. The Pope speaks in two ways, pastorally and rarely, infallibly (called ex Cathedra, which requires a certain set of specific circumstances as the Pope acknowledges, not invents, a doctrinal interpretation). The latter almost never happens. That’s important— His comments today are in his pastoral capacity. He wasn’t speaking ex Cathedra. Catholics aren’t required to agree with his opinions. It’s annoying for sure, I wish the Pope was a wiser leader on matters of politics. But I’m SO grateful to be Catholic because imagine he were the leader of a Prot church—he could change doctrine based on his own faulty opinions at a whim. That’s not the case with Catholicism. Grateful to God for His Church that remains as it always was and always will be despite the turmoil of the world and the sins of man. 🙏🏼

@ZKDID_ @scottsantens PS - Monetary policy regarding how much money a government prints how often in order to maintain that sufficiency and stability is a separate issue. Some do it well, others don’t.

@ZKDID_ @scottsantens The same formula used in places like Norway to fund distributions to its citizens using mechanisms like their Sovereign Wealth Fund. That’s what countries do when their economies rely mostly on one resource. Oil like AI requires minimal labor, meaning most can’t participate.
