Eventually the infrastructure caught up, cars got better, and the rest is history. Same will happen with EVs, fight it as much as you want.

@fgraffagnino @Frenck Well, giving away “free” stuff for years, while building their coffers of data about us has obviously not become profitable anymore. I guess they don’t need any more data about us. They have it all.

Things won't change until people change their behavior. Google has shifted so far from the old days where they focused on building products and services people wanted and being good to the community. Now they view every product and service as something to milk and no amount of money is ever enough.

I have canceled my YouTube Premium subscription. The old price (22,99 EUR) for a family account was already steep… but 33,99… YouTube… are you insane? Have you freaking lost it? Happy to pay for an ad-free experience… but this is beyond reasonable or sanity even 🖕 #YouTube #BrainDump

@sw1002 The new platform has OTA support, I am missing the app to handle the updates and the server for it. Considering how much the packages weight the infrastructure will cost a substantial amount

The alternative approach worked, my iPhone gets detected immediately. Now I just need to transplant my old logic for handling specific ids. Back on track!

How would you feel about not having the default Android keyboard in @TeslaAndroid , I can integrate the Tesla keyboard, it seems better and would make the entire experience more OEM. Yay or nay?

@mikegapinski So I have (finally) acquired an 8MB Pi 4. CarPlay dongle is on it's way. Can you recommend a good heatsink/fan combo? There are many to choose from.

@Jarnaldo @TeslaAndroid +1! This might be the single reason I haven’t pulled the trigger yet on @TeslaAndroid. I don’t want to pay for another LTE, and I enjoy the convenience of just walking away from my car. Please consider!

@TeslaAndroid have you considered/tested an automation on Tesla android that enables/disabled it’s wifi hotspot based on proximity to phones Bluetooth? Might solve from having cars being offline when we forget to turn off the android device when leaving?

@TeslaAndroid I think I still want the LTE modem, so I don't have to switch off WiFi every time I leave my car, so my Tesla app still works. Do I need to pay for a new device to use my phone data plan, or will the LTE modem use my Tesla data plan?

@mikegapinski @TeslaAndroid I wonder if heat will be an issue for me in Arizona, even with a single board solution. I might have to zip tie it up underneath (but outside) of the glove box.

It fits in the glovebox just fine, but the usb port is too weak to power the single board @TeslaAndroid. I’ve chosen to run a long usb c cable from the rear of the center console to the glovebox. twitter.com/mikegapinski/s…

It actually works. Both the LTE modem and the offline mode of @TeslaAndroid single board function properly. Nice! Guess that I’ll leave in the car to download 2022.24.6 😎

@NotATeslaApp This is REALLY BAD, and I bet there will be some lawsuit exposure. If I were to accidentally hit the open trunk button while my car was in my garage, it’s going to hit my garage door, due to the geometry of the trunk on my M3.

The Tesla app will no longer ask for confirmation to open the frunk/trunk. Good to know!
