With all this backlash with ai, do you think NTE will fix it and replace the ai “placeholders” ?? Losing big sponsorships with big creators and also just players in general are quitting the game- and also everyone whos filled out the surveys and emails about it’s ai usage, they are aware of it…but will they fix it?

none of these AI people use or care about Blender at all. you will never see them supporting Blender, 3D artists or talking about this ever again.

Prior to the Anthropic bs, it seems no one had any idea MeshyAI was donating, but it seems they are gone too, yay!

Why is the AI backlash growing? Outside of coding (where there is clear value), and a handful of other domains (e.g. brainstorming), Generative AI has been a net negative for society. GenAI has been undermining secondary and college education, opening up mass surveillance, increasing disinformation, delusions, impersonation, phishing, and other forms of cybercrime, nonconsensual deep fake porn, bias in employment and other domains, and economic disparity, drowning the world in slop and unwanted, over-leveraged environment-damaging data centers that risk causing a recession. Simultaneously it has empowered a bunch of people who want to privatize almost all the gains while leave all the downsides to society, taking almost zero responsibility. I don’t think we are better off than we were four years ago. Some of this is technical (LLMs aren’t reliable), some of it is political/economic (such as the utter lack of responsible regulation). Most of this was predictable. Almost none of it is good. All that said, I honestly believes some future form of AI might be great. But Generative AI has hurt more than it has helped, and been managed irresponsibly. It’s no wonder many people have had enough.

why is this a good thing? anthropic is a shitty ai company but companies that donate to blender dont receive anything in return & have no influence over it. it only helps blender & companies like adobe have also donated to blender, so i dont see what the big deal is

@Jade_shitpost @EZE3D Anthropic is literally getting bullied by the government for not wanting Claude to be used on weapons and mass surveillance to the point they were label supply chain risk, and the hacking thing is to find critical vulnerabilities, like the one found in Linux about a month ago.

I find it comical that there's a narrative going around that there's a big bad twitter mob who is making all the companies and people so very afraid of AI. People are allowed to not like things and businesses will decide what they feel is best for their business and users.
