The Truth About Liberal Lawyer Legislator Stephen Goldfinch Stephen Goldfinch wants this race to be about one thing: that I used to be a Democrat. He repeats it over and over because he does not want you looking at his record. He does not want you asking what kind of Republican he actually is. Even when I was a Democrat, I was more conservative than Stephen Goldfinch. Goldfinch is a liberal lawyer-legislator. He represents everything that is wrong with the system in Columbia. He talks like a Republican when it is convenient, but his record shows something very different. Start with judges. Goldfinch has repeatedly backed liberal, pro-choice, activist judicial candidates. He supported former Democratic Representative James Smith for a judgeship, a hard core pro-choice lawyer legislator. When that nomination was challenged, Goldfinch was on the side trying to keep it alive. He also supported the effort to elevate Milton Kimpson, the brother of liberal Senator Marlon Kimpson, to the bench. That is not about qualifications. That is about connections. That is how the lawyer-legislator system works. They promote their friends, protect their network, and call it process. Goldfinch has also supported DEI training standards for judges. That tells you exactly where he stands. Conservatives want judges who follow the Constitution and apply the law as written. Goldfinch supports injecting political ideology into the judiciary. That is not conservatism. That is activism. Then there is the question of experience. Stephen Goldfinch has never prosecuted a case. He has never stood in a courtroom fighting for victims. The closest he has come to the inside of a courtroom was when he was federally indicted himself over a stem cell scam. That is not the background of someone who should be the chief prosecutor of this state. This race is not about what party someone used to belong to. It is about who is actually willing to enforce the law and who is part of the system that has failed to do it. Goldfinch is not an outsider. He is a product of that system. A lawyer-legislator who benefits from it and helps protect it. That system has left South Carolina overtaxed, overlawyered, and falling behind other states that have enacted real conservative reforms. It has created a culture where insiders take care of insiders and where accountability is inconsistent. Goldfinch is part of that culture. I am not. I led the Statehouse corruption probe that took down powerful politicians. I have put violent criminals on death row. I have taken positions that cost me politically because my values mattered more than party approval. That is the difference in this race. You can choose a liberal lawyer-legislator who talks like a conservative when it suits him. Or you can choose a prosecutor who has actually done the work and is willing to take on the system that Goldfinch represents. The truth about Stephen Goldfinch is not what he says. It is what he has done. It is what he is… a liberal lawyer legislator.

What I care about... This past week I took our Grandpa (he is my husband's grandfather-but gave me away when we had our church military wedding) to the VA clinic because his symptoms for his CHF had flared. I could hear fluid in his lungs when he woke up. I took him to the clinic where the doctor told me his lungs were clear. He was fasting that morning for labs (he is a diabetic), and we waited until nearly 11 for an EKG (to prove his lungs were clear?) We walked out, and I was forced to take him to a private hospital. He would have died had I listened to the doctor. The private hospital immediately admitted him and begin to drain the fluids off of him. They said his quality of life would greatly improve. They are transferring him to another branch of the private hospital to the cardiac unit. He is scheduled for a new pacemaker next week because the battery in the old one died last October. We have been trying to get him a cardiologist for years. The VA tried to kill grandpa just like they tried to kill my husband (more than once). I care about this. I don't care about people pissed off at each other because they get offended. Please keep our grandpa in your prayers. 🇺🇸

During last night’s Pickens County debate, I made it clear that with one exception I am not calling anyone for an endorsement. If someone wants to endorse me, that’s fine. But needing affirmation of other elected officials is for good ole boys, not me. I am the good ole boys worst fear for Attorney General. My one exception to the rule is certain Freedom Caucus members.  They are the true conservatives of the legislature. They have not only stood by me in the last 4 years on issues of corruption and judicial reform, but have taken action with proposed legislation on the issues. They have been the true Patriots of this State calling out Columbia’s culture of corruption! Today, I proudly announce the endorsement of my good friend Representative Joe White. Joe watched my presentation to the Greenville Republican Party on January 6, 2022 where I called out for judicial reform. Joe credits that presentation as one of the reasons he decided to run for the State House two months later. Joe is our biggest conservative warrior in the legislature. I stood by him in the State House lobby as he became the first legislator to introduce a judicial reform bill. Later, when a prosecutor, judge, and lawyer legislator orchestrated the corrupt early release of a murderer from prison, I called Joe White and we publicly exposed the prisoner’s release to start the process of getting him back in prison. And more recently, it was Rep. Joe White who took the recommendations of my State Grand Jury Report to file a bill getting rid of the statute of limitations on Illegal Lobbying.

Update: After this article aired, Wesley Donahue, Campaign Director for Reddy For Governor stated: DOGESC was a committee. The campaign bought the assets of the committee, which is totally legal. We have since reached out to Courtney Laster, Head Attorney for Ethics.SC.gov. Her team gave us the foundation for this article. We are waiting on her response.
