Congress is on the verge of giving ICE and CBP an extra $70 billion – with no guardrails or checks and balances. Our communities can’t afford that price tag or the damage of three more years of hostile, dragnet operations for years to come. Act Now, tell Congress to Vote NO on Reconciliation 2.0! mstr.app/9facb18f-42ef-…

Today, we are publishing the People’s Record: A Report on the People’s Hearings on Immigration Enforcement in Minnesota. The report documents the unconstitutional conduct, unlawful detentions, and widespread civil rights violations that took place during Operation Metro Surge. Over 100 days, nearly 4,000 people were arrested, the vast majority of whom had no previous criminal record. Children as young as two were held in family detention, and two U.S. citizens lost their lives. These are not just numbers, they are families, neighbors, and communities and in the report, you can hear testimony of people who lived through these actions. Congress may have not taken adequate action to address aggressive federal operations, but we all have a responsibility to listen, uplift their stories, and demand action. The public hearing was supported by local efforts from groups such as @CLUES_MN, Immigration Defense Network, Unidos Minnesota and its Monarca project, @COPALMN, and many more. Moderated by @RochelleMGarza, Chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, this first of its kind People’s Hearing on Immigration Enforcement was organized and sponsored by Hispanic Federation, Miranda Family, @latinovictoryus, and @TXCivilRights. This report centers the testimony of people who lived through these actions. Their voices are part of the official record, and we all have a responsibility to listen, uplift their stories, and demand accountability.

“Today we recognize World AIDS Vaccine Day — honoring the researchers, advocates, and clinical trial volunteers working toward a future without HIV/AIDS. Together, we continue the fight through education, prevention, and hope.” said Jonathan Rodriguez, Hispanic Federation Health Program Manager. Latino communities continue to face barriers to healthcare access, stigma, and disproportionate impacts from HIV and Hepatitis B. That is why culturally responsive outreach, prevention resources, and community-based education remain critical. At Hispanic Federation, we are committed to advancing health equity and ensuring our communities have access to the information, care, and support they deserve.

Fresh off the press from @PNS_News, Latino leaders in California are calling for what they describe as “bold changes to the way the state treats Latinos, who make up 40% of the population,” as part of a new statewide policy vision. Hispanic Federation, in collaboration with @CHIRLA, @LCHC_CA, @HOPELatinas, and Unseen developed the “Health, Wealth and Dignity Agenda for California” which outlines priorities centered on housing access, workforce development, healthcare, family support systems, and strengthening pathways to opportunity for Latino communities across the state.

A year after the Digital Equity Act was canceled, communities across the country are still paying the price. Yesterday, Hispanic Federation joined national partners and lawmakers to demand action and call on Congress to restore the bipartisan Digital Equity Act, because access to internet, digital skills, and technology should not depend on your ZIP code, age, or income! As Frankie Miranda, President and CEO of Hispanic Federation, shared: “In order for our nation to fully embrace the technologies of tomorrow, we must first close the digital divide that leaves far too many people unable to participate in a digital society where access to health care, education, employment and essential services require digital skills.” Thank you @http_policy, @publicknowledge, @netinclusion, National Urban League, @RepGraceMeng, @RepMenendez, and @SenatorLujan for working with us to convene this space and to the many speakers for taking the time to share why it is so important to restore the Digital Equity Act.

Last Monday, we celebrated the graduation of our inaugural Swift App Development program. 🎓 Over 8 weeks, 17 aspiring software engineers gained hands-on experience with Swift, the coding language behind Apple apps. This new program, in partnership with America On Tech and CUNY in the Heights, is building pathways into tech for New Yorkers. This was the first of three cohorts this year, with the next one launching soon.

Puerto Rico deserves transparency. Thank you to the 46 members of Congress fighting alongside our families to investigate the DOE’s handling of the Energy Resilience Fund. In a letter to DOE Secretary Wright, the members demanded the DOE explain why it canceled the PR-ERF solar and battery projects designed to provide energy resilience for rural health clinics and very low-income families in Puerto Rico, particularly those with disabilities. “DOE’s lack of transparency, wasteful reuse of the funding, disregard for congressional intent, and potentially illegal cancellation of contracts—combined with the resulting increase in energy poverty and loss of energy security—raise serious questions about the Department’s uses of the Puerto Rico-Energy Resilience Fund,” the lawmakers said in their letter to DOE Secretary Wright. The lawmakers demanded a congressional briefing and warned DOE is quietly steering funding from the PR-ERF toward a new methane gas pipeline, and other private fossil fuel interests. YOU CAN HELP: Use the links in the comments to read the full letter to DOE and then send your own letter to DOE Secretary Wright demanding he restore the original PR-ERF awards.

Happy Mother’s Day a todas las madres de nuestra comunidad. 💐 This Mother’s Day, we’re uplifting something just as important as celebrations: maternal mental health. Through Hispanic Federation’s Por Nosotras Mental Health Program, we create spaces for honest conversations about stress, anxiety, and the emotional journey of motherhood. Rooted in community, culture, and trust, this work ensures that mothers feel supported every step of the way. Hoy y siempre, honramos su fuerza, su amor, y su resiliencia. A todas las madres: no están solas, su bienestar importa, su voz importa, y su historia también.🧡
