Members of the #HFFamilia were part of #WorldCup magic, walking onto the pitch and soaking up the energy of the fans. Thanks to @CocaCola, some of our staff’s children had the opportunity to experience this once-in-a-lifetime moment. This photo collection captures the joy of children who stepped on the field to represent their generation and the hope that is embodied by El Mundial. Soccer unites us, inspires us, and reminds us of who we are. In 90 minutes, an entire country comes together to scream, cry, and overflow with emotions as they watch every play at the same time. This is soccer. It’s a space where the oldest and youngest, richest and poorest people put aside their differences and with their hearts beating together, shout GOOOOOOOL! At Hispanic Federation, we celebrate this cultural passion that was also experienced by our youngest #HFFamilia during the World Cup opening.

Lorenzo Salgado Araujo spent nearly 35 years building a life and raising a family in Houston. He was a father, a small business owner, and a valued member of his community. On July 7, he was fatally shot byan ICE officer a few blocks from his home. His family, loved ones, members of his community, and the nation are still waiting for answers. This horrible tragedy is a pattern of DHS violence, which has surged due to the enormous increase funded by our tax dollars. It's why Hispanic Federation has consistently called on Congress to enact guardrails and oversight to hold the department accountable and prevent future deaths. These deaths at the hands of ICE agents must end now. Our communities are entitled to dignity, safety, and justice.

As part of our CRECER Small Business Initiative, we kicked off an exciting new partnership today with @joinpursuit to bring together small and medium businesses for a hands-on workshop in our NYC headquarters to explore how AI can support and strengthen their companies. Participants gained practicals skills in learning AI fundamentals, exploring real-world cases studies, building a video game, and many more skills that they can apply right away. This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as 10 businesses move on to the next phase, where they’ll work one-on-one with Pursuit AI builders developing customized solutions to their challenges.

This Fourth of July marks 250 years since this nation promised freedom and equality to all. That promise isn’t finished – we are still building up to it. Latinos have always been a part of the history, by strengthening the economy, defending this country, and raising the next generation of Americans. Our communities are under attack, and our rights are being tested, but we know the importance of standing together with our neighbors. We know how to rise. We know how to turn struggle into progress, because we have done it for generations. This is still our country to build. Our future to shape. Our freedom to claim. Juntos somos más fuerte.

Building stronger communities starts with informed civic engagement. Yesterday, our North Carolina team provided training on how to register voters and conduct deep canvassing training. During the full day training, they also shared the latest voter rights information and updates about the elections with six of our grantee organizations. With support from guest speaker Lucas Seijo from @democracync, participants learned about voter ID requirements, early voting, vote-by-mail, residency requirements, and election protection. We are helping ensure our communities have the tools and information they need to participate in our democracy.

On the last day of Pride Month, the Supreme Court issued a ruling that allows states to ban transgender athletes from participating in sports consistent with their gender identity. This decision goes beyond sports. It reinforces barriers that many transgender people, especially Latinx trans youth, already face in their pursuit of safety, belonging, and equal opportunity. At Hispanic Federation, we believe every person deserves dignity, respect, and the freedom to live authentically. An attack on one community is an attack on all of us, and we remain committed to standing alongside LGBTQ+ communities, supporting grassroots organization, and advocating for policies that protects everyone’s rights and humanity.

Today, the United States Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship as a constitutional right, reaffirming the protections guaranteed under the 14th Amendment for children born in the United States. For 250 years, the United States has thrived as nation of immigrants. The American Dream is firmly rooted in the belief that every person deserves an opportunity to build a better future not only for themselves, but for our great country. This ruling justly reiterates our inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to each of us born on American soil. While this decision is an important victory, we must keep working to ensure these rights remain protected.

The Supreme Court’s decision to protect mail-in ballots is an important victory for voters and for our democracy. For many communities, including Latino and Black voters, older adults, working families, and people with limited access to transportation, mail-in voting is essential to making their voices heard. Protecting this option helps ensure every eligible voter has a fair opportunity to cast their ballot. While we welcome this ruling, the fight for voting is far from over. Hispanic Federation will continue advocating against efforts to restrict ballot access and for policies that protect every person’s right to vote.
