What happened on March 15 at a Midwest research and breeding facility is alarming. The alleged break-in raises serious safety concerns. Alleged illegal and violent actions of animal extremists like this don’t advance animal welfare; they delay research that helps pets and people.

Highly reliable sources tell me @NIH will still fund purely animal model grants (new ones too). NOAs (notice of awards) will be more human focused & justification for animal models must be made but $ for new & funded animal grants will continue. @Nature @ScienceMagazine @HHSGov

The @NIH announcement of no “animal model only” grants is arguably a bigger deal than the pending 40% budget cut. The question is what it really means. e.g., mice + AI = “not pure animal model” grant etc. @NIHDirector_Jay @NIH @HHSGov please clarify. I’m getting Qs galore.
