I don't usually share personal things on social media. I reserve it for video games or memes, sometimes dumb political things.
I lost one of the most important and influential people in my life on Wednesday night, the 1st of October, 2025. My grandmother was the matriarch of our family in every sense of the word. She was also incredibly kind, sometimes too truthful, to the whole family. Outsiders may consider something she said as 'rude' or 'mean' but it was actually a stern reminder to straighten up and act right.
Tragedy struck her family ever since she was 4 years old, and it continued to strike throughout her life, losing siblings early on and taking on their children even though she had 5 children of her own. A heart of great capacity and care, a woman of independent thought, strong will, but was ultimately struck down by a cruel and terrible disease, Alzheimer's.
She was 85 years old, and I will miss her greatly. While her physical presence in my life will always be missed, I will pray I meet her again some day, in my own time, when God calls me.
I have so much more I want ti say about my grandmother, and so many stories I could share. They are all I have of her now, and while it brings me joy, it also hurts incredibly deep.
