@permurr02 And I don’t even like the rule. I’d prefer you still had to choose CHL or NCAA. It screws American kids. But, I see how it’s beneficial to a Canadian kid who realized he’s probably not going to the NHL and wants an education. And I see why NCAA coaches like it.

@permurr02 Totally understand that. And you’re right, ultimately it was a choice. My pushback would be what if the kid is a mid-tier prospect (like I was). UND, DU, UMD aren’t interested. They’d probably head to Brandon rather than hearing our comms from Colgate, Holy Cross, UCONN, etc.

To echo Leaman - In my experience, many of them just don’t know what they’re missing. College hockey is the best, but how many kids growing up in Manitoba or Alberta have real exposure to college hockey? They used to just choose what they know, but that is starting to change.

@PeterB9292 Fair, but Clarkson has a pretty well run program too. I think you just need Assistants that you can trust to do their homework on guys. And during this transitional period with the CHL you’ll have a few swings and misses, just have to accept that.

@NCAAHupdates He then finds his way onto a CIS team and has an unbelievable year, when you’re at Providence and get the pick of the litter to an extent, it makes sense, in order for a Clarkson to compete you take Josh Dickinsons or Sheldon Rempals that hate class and school, so bolt right away

Porter was a 4th round pick out of NTDP in 2004. Captained @umichhockey in 07-08 before playing 249 NHL games and 528 AHL games between 2008 - 2020. A good hire for the program.

Halifax (QMJHL) Dman Eddy Doyle has committed to @GoNUmhockey. Should get drafted this summer - ranked #108 by Central Scouting for NA Skaters. 07’ will likely play at least 1 more year of juniors before heading to NU.

Former @MaineIceHockey F Justin Poirier is heading to @PennStateMHKY. 29 points (18g 11a) in 27 games as a Freshman with UMaine. 5th round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2024. Big time add for PSU that they needed badly.

.@WMUHockey F Jamison Sluys has entered the portal and will be going to @SCSUHuskies_MH. 3 points in 20 games as a freshman at WMU. 46 in 41 with Youngstown (USHL) the year prior.

Have seen a lot of negative comments about how Hamilton is making the jump from Mid-Fairfield to NCAA D1. 1. He went to Yale and then played 400+ NHL/AHL games. 2. How many options did they have after the Allain / Chun article? Give him a legit few years to try and clean it up

5. UNH Notable adds - Vass (BU, CBJ), Simpson (PC) Svartstrom (SLU), Van Tassell (UMASS, OTT) Vass had a rough Freshman year, but should take a huge step. Svartstrom 17 goals last season - should slot into the top 6. Van Tassell 87 college games. Simpson (G) has AHL experience

4. Minnesota Notable adds - Strahl (MSU, CBJ), Burnevik (SCSU, ANA), Henricks (SCSU, CBJ), Murr (Minny State) Strahl addresses need in net. Burnevik 38 in 36 (20 goals) last season. Henricks 6 in 14 as a Freshman. Murr, 30 in 40, brings legit playoff experience to the back end.
