@GhaemiDylan With all that said the NCAA needs to get its act together and draw a clear clear line, I get what you’re saying, and agree, but it’s also tough to compete at Clarkson with where the game is at now

@GhaemiDylan Jobs are on the line, coaches and programs with lesser resources always need to do what they can to compete, Ben Gaudreau most likely is a good 1A/1B (pro hockey going 1A/1B more than ever) or even a backup to a D3 transfer that has grinded his ass off to get where he is

Seen two ’03s with two full seasons of professional hockey each, both just granted NCAA eligibility this week. High school kids and junior players grind for years chasing a scholarship, and a player with a pro resume walks in and takes that spot. When is enough, enough?

@AmbroseBielecki @Rover2115 @EvanMarinofsky Pegula kick started Penn State for around 102 million back in 2012, I’d be interested to see how much these studies think it would cost to start up a program now, the operational budget is higher than field sports, the travel would be expensive, a lot of factors

@Rover2115 @PeterB9292 @EvanMarinofsky Matthew Tkachuk has stated on more than one occasion he'd throw several million dollars into a hockey team at the University of Miami. They actually have an arena on campus that hosts ice events.. not a hockey rink, but could be modified with some $$

Nate Leaman: “We need 20 more Division 1 teams.” Lot of interesting stuff in here about the idea of USA Hockey taking over college hockey:

@Sisu230 They don’t have a donor base for the sport to push the move to D1, well at least they don’t want to divert funds from Basketball/Football to care enough, but the ACHA fan bases are impressive

@FJRC2020 @EvanMarinofsky I said they are way more likely to lose 20 teams because budget cuts are happening everywhere and even at the largest institutions there are money issues, so non-revenue sports will be targeted, and they’ll look at what costs them the most, and that’s hockey in some cases

@PeterB9292 @EvanMarinofsky You said losing 20 teams. Regardless I said Teams. Don’t want to go back and forth. I should have said TEAMS more clearly. The coach is wrong they ain’t adding 20 teams bc of NIL and the 5 for 5 eligibility. That will hurt the junior programs who count on parents paying

@FJRC2020 @EvanMarinofsky This was the post YOU responded to, I said D2/D3 schools, not hockey, schools, as in the vast majority of their athletic programs
Peter@PeterB9292

@EvanMarinofsky 20 more teams? The only ones willing to expand are small d2 or d3 schools, and that’s through strong financial backing, Tennessee States are great in theory until they wash away, way more likely to lose 20 teams compared to gaining with the money situations these colleges are in

@PeterB9292 @EvanMarinofsky No we don’t. You don’t know how to read. I wrote Div 2 “ teams” as in hockey, I am fully aware some Div 1 hockey teams are not Div 1 universities.

@NCAAHupdates Border and having strong traditional ties along with a lot of Hockey Canada ties finds these players for us, JF also has endless resources between his father and himself, so that offsets things a bit but in terms of money, we are way behind in the game

@NCAAHupdates I wish that was the case with Clarkson, I just know too much in how things operate and it’s functional and better than RPI or SLU but Dave Taylor needed to come in and right the ship because it was going in the wrong direction from a competitive standpoint, being so close to the

To echo Leaman - In my experience, many of them just don’t know what they’re missing. College hockey is the best, but how many kids growing up in Manitoba or Alberta have real exposure to college hockey? They used to just choose what they know, but that is starting to change.
Evan Marinofsky@EvanMarinofsky

Nate Leaman: "All those perceptions of a Major Junior kid — I didn't think any of them were accurate." Leaman weighed in on the preconceived notions of how CHL players would adjust to college hockey.

@FJRC2020 @EvanMarinofsky North Dakota and Union College don’t have the same resources, Minnesota and Clarkson don’t have the same resources within their AD departments and are reliant on outside funds, Union Hockey Alums started a hockey specific collective 1795collective.com

@FJRC2020 @EvanMarinofsky Oh my god, I can’t anymore, I’m aware of all levels of college hockey, I’m aware of D2 hockey being basically nothing, there hasn’t been a D2 hockey tournament in the 2000s, you’re just fundamentally not grasping what I’m telling you, I know the D3 powers, and there’s no D1A

@PeterB9292 @EvanMarinofsky They’re going to division 1a. Division two is pretty much going away as St Anslems is leaving so there’s like four teams left. You don’t know what you’re talking about and again they’re not as good as division three which was my comment.

@FJRC2020 @EvanMarinofsky Just because Clarkson and the other primarily D2/D3 schools got an exemption to play D1 hockey does not mean they are a D1 school, every other program is D3

@FJRC2020 @EvanMarinofsky But if you look at their website, they haven’t played any games since 24-25, but looks like they are starting back up the NE10, I get what you’re saying the D2 programs are worse than the top D3 programs, but we are talking D1, D2, D3 schools where majority of their programs are

@PeterB9292 @EvanMarinofsky I know exactly how the athletic department work in division one division two in division three my comment was there’s five true division two teams that’s it and they stink. They’re not as good as the division three teams that is a known fact. You are incorrect,

@FJRC2020 @EvanMarinofsky D1 in hockey doesn’t mean their entire athletics department is ran with D1 standard, for instance Clarkson has an endowed coaching position to try and separate itself from the D3 schools and are catered to, but not every program is like that
