Last year, state lawmakers rolled back North Carolina’s short-term climate goal. Now, Duke Energy projects emissions will continue to rise before somehow falling by 2050. @WFAE reports that Kristina Costa of the University of Chicago calls this “magical thinking.”

A North Carolina business court judge dismissed a groundbreaking climate lawsuit filed by the Town of Carrboro against Duke Energy Corporation in December 2024. While we are disappointed and disagree with the result, Carrboro is evaluating all of its options, including appeal.
