@NEETsocLARP Quicksaves make games trivially easy and if you want to have properly balanced checkpoints you have to play game designer and do it yourself which sucks. I don't care if you have cheats, go ahead, I just want good checkpoints.

Savescumming is the literal worst thing to have ever happened to western games. Blows my mind anyone defends it.

Nah some games are just naturally designed around savescumming and would be unplayably tedious without it. The intent of the developers was to force you to learn through trial and error. It’s not perfect but it’s better than old Nintendo games which just boot you back to start

My hottest gaming take is that I actually dislike PC game save systems where you can just save/load wherever and whenever. It feels sort of like the equivalent of leaving a debug feature in a game, except it’s extremely normalized
