@HMRCcustomers Good afternoon. If I receive complimentary theatre tickets from a theatre in return for a review on my social media platforms, do I need to pay tax on the value of the tickets or are they classed as a tool of the trade and exempt?

@HMRCcustomers Thank you, just one last question. When determining the ticket value, my ticket usually has £0.00 PRESS written where the price would be. Can I use this as the value of the ticket? Or is it the value of the seat if it was on sale to the public that I use?

@NEFamilyFun Even though no money changes hands, you're providing a service (a review or promotion) in exchange for a benefit (theatre tickets). This is considered non-monetary income, and you must declare the fair market value of the tickets as part of your taxable income. (2/3)

So @NewLookHelp at @_Metrocentre flat out refused to give me a paper receipt tonight and said I HAD to provide an email address and they can only provide digital receipts now. Normally I wouldn't mind but I was really short on time tonight so had to do without.

@newlook do you HAVE to have an email address to shop in your stores? One store on Saturday gave me a paper receipt when I asked but another store just now insisted I had to provide an email before they would give me a paper one
