As the world grapples with climate change, there is a dire need for training institutions to integrate climate change into curricula. Today while officiating the opening of capacity building of curricula development leads in green transition workshop; I underscored the need for embedding green skills and climate awareness in the TVET curriculum in order to equip the youth for sustainable future. The workshop which brought together experts from the TVET sector, Ministry of Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry, Kenya Association of Manufacturers, National Environment Management Authority, Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority and KENGEN and coordinated by East Africa Skills for Transformation and Regional Integration (EASTRIP) is focusing on integrating green skills into the TVET curriculum. The wholestic Government approach demonstrated at the event showed the commitment of the Government of ensuring that green skills are embedded into the TVET curriculum to ensure that there is future sustainability of TVET graduates. The workshop highlighted key emerging sectors and opportunities in the green sector that the integration of green skills into the TVET sector will see the youth benefit from the area. I applaud the EASTRIP for championing this agenda and urge TVET institutions to ensure that they infuse green skills in training.

It was a pleasure participating in this year's @KenyaInnovWeek. This is to thank our partner TVET institutions for their participation and organizer @KENIAupdates for creating a platform for our trainees to showcase their innovations, learn, and engage with different partners.

I joined the Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba during the Kenya National Qualifications Authority (KNQA) retreat for Council members where the CS underscored on the importance of KNQA in enhancing the quality, recognition and mobility of our qualifications system. The CS reaffirmed that KNQA's mission is to ensure that qualifications earned in Kenya are credible, recognized both nationally and internationally while reflecting the skills, knowledge and competencies required in the modern world. I took the opportunity to urge the Authority to take a proactive role in implementing policies designed to harmonize qualifications across various sectors. These policies aim to bridge gaps in skills recognition, support the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) framework, and enhance the adoption of the Kenya National Qualifications Framework (KNQF). By doing so, KNQA can foster lifelong learning, improve employability, and facilitate seamless transitions within the education and training ecosystem. In attendance also were the KNQA Chairman, Hon. Stanley Kiptis, Director General, Dr. Alice Kande, other Council Members and Ministry officials.

We appreciate our TVET partners for coming together to reflect, learn and share their experiences on the @youngafricawks in Kenya-TVET program implementation and it's impact in the TVET sector.

As Kenya gears for industrialization, there is dire need for the Technical, Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions to meet workforce demands for sustainable development. For this to be achieved, shifting to a different paradigm and an innovative approach of ensuring that youths are absolutely trained with an end in mind is imperative. To achieve this, Mastercard Foundation through CiCAN programme has been able to invest in the state-of-the-art equipment in the different sectors of building and construction, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism, Blue Economy, agriculture and digital economy across 19 partner TVET institutions. I am confident that the equipping of TVET institutions with the state-of-the-art equipment will aide our institutions to equip the youth with cutting-edge skills to enable them to venture in entrepreneurship, innovation, research as well as employment. This was my message when I joined Colleges and Institutes Canada at Naivasha for a TVET Learning Forum. Through their partnership over 5000 trainers have been retooled by KSTVET on CBET Methodology of delivery. I congratulate the Mastercard Foundation through CiCAN for the continued partnership in the TVET sector.

The @youngafricawks in Kenya-TVET Program Learning Forum was officially opened by @Muoria_Dr, PS, @TVET_MoE Speaking during the forum, the PS reiterated the importance of partners in the TVET sector being deliberate and intentional in creating jobs for young people in Kenya.

I am proud of the initiative that the North Eastern National Polytechnic has taken on implementing the 15B tree growing call to Kenyans by H.E. The President, Dr. Willian Ruto. The Polytechnic has established an orchard comprising 720 different species of fruit trees. I was honored to commission this Orchard that will not only be part of afforestation in the institution, but also provide fruit for use within the Institution, as well income when commercialized.

We joined Garissa County Government, Department of Environment among other organisations to mark World Clean Up Day where we cleaned CBD at Garissa Town. Together, we can make our Earth a better place. Keep it clean, keep it green! 🌳✨ #worldcleanupday

The story of TVET growth in Kenya has been an amazing journey with an impressive record of great achievements. It is worth noting that President H.E. Dr. William Ruto has been enthusiastic about propelling the sector.  It was a humbling moment to have His Excellency the President grace the National TVET@100 celebrations at Kabete National Polytechnic, where he echoed the centenary celebration theme that "TVET is the master key to the door of opportunities." He reiterated the government's commitment to providing the necessary support to TVET institutions so as to enable them to provide the requisite skills needed to power industrialization, technology, and innovation, thereby enhancing global competitiveness.  The Prime Cabinet Secretary, H.E. Musalia Mudavadi, noted that the TVET sector is a space that needs to be supported and guarded well as a source of hope for young people. He stated that TVET trains all-round graduates who can fit in the labour market as they are able to be entrepreneurs and work in the diaspora. Appreciation goes to all who participated in this noble event.

The goal of the TVET@100 celebrations is to promote employability,mobility,decent work,entrepreneurship and lifelong learning among the youths and adults. While unpacking the celebrations I reiterated TVET's aim of connecting training and the world of work,unlocking the potential of young people and adults for a bright future. Remarkable progress has been realised in the TVET sector in ensuring that youths acquire proper skills. There has been policy shift and curriculum reforms through introduction of Competency Based Education and Training, expansion of TVET institutions, public-private partnerships and boosting of international collaborations with the ultimate goal of strengthening the TVET agenda. During the keynote address,I also echoed that training with industry has taken root with active engagement by over 100 TVET institutions. This has improved graduate transition into the job market being that training is done with, by and for industry. I note that quality and relevance in training is being maintained in TVET institutions.

Today we mark the TVET@100 centenary celebration to commemorate the TVET sector's 100 years of skill development. The event will be officiated by His Excellency Dr. William Ruto at @NationalKabete. #NikosetnaTVET #TVET@100 @TVET_MoE
