New: Tornado Watch now in effect until 3:00 am. SPC says a couple of strong tornadoes are possible as well as widespread 80 mph damaging straight-line winds. Time to make sure your safe place is cleaned out. Be ready to head there if a warning is issued. We're here ready to go.

Straight-line winds have the potential to cause structural damage to your home's outside electric equipment. Here's critical information you need to know before the storm. If you lose power and your weatherhead, power mast and/or meter base are damaged, our crews cannot safely reconnect your power until a licensed eletrician makes the necessary repairs first. Ensure your home will be ready to receive power. After a major storm like this. It’s important to know where our role ends and yours begins. NES maintains and repairs the lines leading to your house, but homeowners are responsible for the equipment on the house.

We are dedicating our day to preparing for severe storms forecasted this evening. With wind gusts as high as 75 mph, there's a likelihood of damage to the grid, including trees or branches falling into power lines, electriciy poles breaking and your home's electrical infrastructure being damaged. NES Preparations: ▪️ Staffed our Emergency Command Center and added back-up employees for each team. ▪️ Staffed 410 lineworkers ready to respond tonight, and an additional 50 will be added Monday morning. ▪️ At least 39 Meter Techs & Field Service Techs are scheduled to support damage assessments and other tasks, as needed. ▪️ Increased staff in the Customer Service call center. Now is the time for you to prepare, too. Keep your mobile devices charged, secure loose items outside your home and download a reliable, "wake you up" weather app on your phone or tablet. Keep checking back here for the latest updates from NES!

We’re keeping an eye out for a weather system forecasted for our area. The biggest concerns are high winds with gusts up to 75 mph, thunderstorms and pop-up tornadoes. NES crews and equipment are staged and ready to respond. Predicted wind gusts as high as 75 mph can bring down vegetation, like trees or branches located near power lines. When vegetation gets entangled in NES electrical equipment, those power lines often snap and fall to the ground. Since January, crews have assessed and trimmed over 2,800 miles of additional lines to address overhanging and storm-damaged trees that pose risk of outages. Outages involving downed lines and broken poles take more time to restore.

Things have escalated somewhat. The level 3 out of 5 has been dragged a little father east, but the biggest change is that the tornado risk has increased so that there is now a medium tornado threat generally west of I-65, which does include most of the Nashville Metro Area.

These unseasonably warm temperatures serve as a good reminder to schedule your HVAC maintenance tune-up before the summer heat is here to stay. Once humidity hits, HVAC technicians are booked weeks in advance. Now is the perfect time to get your appointment booked. A dirty system has to work 10-15% harder. A tune-up will keep you cool and help keep your energy usage down. Seal in savings with rebates on duct sealing and HVAC tune-ups at bit.ly/46QT4xB.
